why do they have shields if they don't regenerate? was it made by design?

I think it's because of elites, if shields regenerate, it would throw locking proportions way out of whack.

Kinda stupid for the Terran Outsiders to just keep those shield rechargers lying around on their bases...

Realistically, it would only truly affect bosses, but that would screw with the locking system.
Regulars should be dead way before their shields recharge and elites with shields are usually dead in minutes.

I thought I saw a post by Dan back when they came out that he'd add that in, but it didn't happen. I assume he decided it would be more trouble than it was worth, especially because it'd be a big deterrent for lower level players while not helping much at all to slow the higher level players.

Not really, even if you dont lock / dont do damage and are still in top 10, or whatever, you still get cred, the only thing that matters is where you fall on the pecking order.

Yeah but if you locked your spot in, your still not locked if you get me. If the shield recharged enough and you didn't ht it, even locked you could still get bumped out.

yea i get what your saying, its just that in the current system a lock really doesnt mean anything as long as you can scooch yourself into top 10 or whatever its calling for, and since i doubt NPC sields will ever recharge have a debate about it would be pointless.

-_- Yes, he's saying that's one of the reasons why having them recharge might not work out well. That's the whole point of the topic, to discuss the possibility and figure out why they don't and probably won't.
