Small Moon +10% planet space
Planetary Rings +20% to all production
Large Moons +20% planet space

I have no idea where you got satelites from though.

Maybe its the cloaking structures. jammer, shroud, stealth, cloaking, anti-tachylon and Inverse flux satilites. If so they provide planetary cloak which means when ever someone scans if their ships scan is less than your planets cloak they have no chance to find the planet becuase its so sneaky it cant be detected.

In other words
Im sure you've had a scan that says Your sensors almost lock onto a planet but it was too cloaked to detect. Thats when the rng picked a planet that had more cloak than your scan.

"Satellite" is also an alternative word for a moon, given the other aspects of his post I'd suspect it was that to which he was referring.
