I'm sure most of you (if not all) have looked through the list of artifacts that are available through GP Purchases only, and have seen the planet structures that raise your storage maximum for Mineral points, Artifact points, and Research Points.
I'm curious to know how many people have actually bought/used them, and just how useful they actually are... If someone were to buy 5 of each (the planet build limit) and equip them on a planet, if that planet were stolen... would those structures be permanently lost? Could the enemy (after capturing this planet) destroy the structures or keep them and gain their effects?
Thanks for any input!

yes theyd lose the structures, and yes the thief would gain their bonuses.

Thanks for any input! Ive bought 5 mineral GP buildings, i stuck in onto a v.massive heavilly defended planet (no production from it) The items will be perminatly lost if the planet is taken.

i recently purchased 5 research archives, but it was for a specific reason... you see, my research currently comes up to just below capping after 7 hours of production, so if i were to use one of the 8 dark smuggler's caches i've saved up, i'd lose an hour of production because those won't exceed cap when used...
so what I did was first found a mining planet that nobody else scanned,... emptied out some space and put the data archives there... and guarded the planet so i wouldn't forget which one it was.... then one by one i used the dark smuggler's caches, emptied research and mining, and brought my arti points down to just below 20k... (and if i came across any scientists, used them).... and repeated till each cache was used up... finally i used mylarai extractors to get my archives off the planet and put back the mining structures i had demolished for space
i'm totally ok with sitting at a 7 hour cap on research... i just didn't want to lose all that extra research from those caches... and now, i don't have to worry about anyone taking my archives since they're sitting safely in my cargo hold

Theyre useful if youve strong outputs, after all, you dont need them if you can not overfill your bars by the time you next log on. I really needed some research ones as i was filling my limit in 5.2 hours, which meant sleep or work was costing me wasted points for several hours a day.
Like i said, only use em if you need em, can you get back on before it overflows?

I'm currently hitting my research cap in 10 hours, but I'm away from the computer for 12 hours every night, so I'm losing about 2k research everyday... I was planning on finding a Massive or bigger planet, with sparse production at best, and loading it with 5 of each of the storage structures. Then filling the rest of the space with defense mods and guarding it, but at my rank... it would still be an easy take for anyone over rank 150 or so, not to mention a lot of lost GP value.
So instead, I just bought 1 Research Data Archive and equipped it on one of my planets that nobody else has scanned. Hopefully, nobody will find it anytime soon.
Thanks for all the advice and info guys!

I took a planet that had six of these on it (total). That was a sweet day. The thief gets the bonuses, the victim loses the bonuses, same as any structure.
