Hi, Coth here. I created/upkeep the FAQ here. Now I dont know how many people actually read the FAQ when they come into the forum and as long as I can assume a few people are having their questions answered I dont care. But it has become obvious that some people do infact not read the FAQ.

In many cases though I do not blame people for not reading it after I have updated it.
I feel that one of the main reasons that people ask questions that are answered there is because the FAQ page does not make it apparent that it has been updated. If it were up to me the FAQ would automatically bump itself every time I edited it. But that cannot be done, bumping can happen, but I do not know the requirements to have it be available for when I update it. But there is a solution that does not involve me scuttering up the FAQ with bump posts.

Please check the FAQ atleast once a week.

And I dont know weather subscribing or bookmarking a page will update you when it gets edited but feel free to try that too.

or you could just have it stickied and edit the title to reflect "reviosion number x" of the faq :D

But if you visit the forum often enough you'll notice the rev number changed.

Notice how the people who usually ask these questions dont go to the forums very often. That being said I might do it, its just it dosnt solve the problem and if you do come to thre forum often enough i dont think its gonna kill ya to just check the FAQ. The lower down it is n the FAQ the newer it is so youd just have to check that.

I'm an admin for a Star Trek gaming forum Coth. The way I do it is to close the thread to prevent others posting there (Have a separate hread if need be for others to post in, and link to it in the FAQ thread).

Then, whenever you edit the post, copy-and paste the entire edited post, delete the thread, and repost it. It's a little bit of work, but since it's a new thread, it will show up as one to everyone.

Or you could do this, edit the main post with the new FAQ info you want to add, post the same text in a new message which will make the thread get new posts-image (mods can post in closed threads)
