How do you join a legion?

You automatically join a person's legion when that person is a friend and plays GL, as for groups, your going to have to be more descriptive

You "legion" is anyone that you have as a friend on your facebook account that also plays GL. For instance you find someone in game and you share FB accounts and friend each other, each became a part of the other person's legion. Basically everyone has their own legion. To see who's in your legion you click on the legion tab in the game and it provides a list of who all is in your legion.

Groups, such as DoO, The dark side, Stormkyn Alliance and others are basically set up when a player makes a group on FB and you get invited to it. Basically this facebook forms a type of guild, with a means to notify and communicate with members, typically has a set of rules and regulations you agree to follow when joining the group, and helps people to work as a team. Not neccissarily is everyone in the group a member of your legion, but not neccissarily is everyone in your legion a member of your group either. I think your getting the groups confused with a normal guild system. GL does not have a guild system set up at this time, these groups are there to somewhat fill that void.

Confusion came when I looked at Galaxy Leaders and then looked at the Legion tab.
