I am fairly new to the game and I have been doing some reading and cannot find the following information?

I know I get exotic matter when mining, but how/when will i start getting it? Do I have to have a certain ship size or a certain number of planets?

How do I get more than just Darrynite? Again, is this determined by ship size or level?

the type of minerals you receive is based off your ship rank.
as for exotic matter, I believe it's based off you total mining.

You need to view getting mining resources like a lottery where every single mineral piece is a chance of getting something

The lower your level the lower your chances of getting something good- the percentages change as you level gradually increase- there are several points where you will actually notice it- but mostly the changes are very gradual

Your chances of getting exotic matter for every mineral you download increases as well

the only factor that affects these percentage drop chances is your ships level- nothing else matters for each individual spin of the dice so to speak- as you increase your mineral take per hour- obviously you will get more chances
