Not certain if this question has been addressed before but:

Given the same attacker without changing any other parameters:

Do shields deteriorate at the same rate as hull, eg:

If each hit takes away approximately 50 shield units, will each continued hit take away approximately 50 hull units ?

Thanks in advance.

:)

lol i used to have this argument with people way back, because at the time my mind set was with stronger shields that i'd breach your hull before you could breach my shields..but everyone seems to think that hull rules :?

It is easier to get higher shields. But having a high score on both just makes you harder to kill. Though more shields you have faster you gain some back each tick.

Answering your question, 50 points in hull = 50 points in shields. The only difference is that:

hull
can be instantly repaired (with a short cooldown timer)
modules give a larger amount of points per size

shields
repair on their own (and repair more per tick the larger the shield you have)
repairs for free

Thanks!

If they both deteriorate at the same rate as you indicate, then the logical choice appears to be a function of your deck space usage vs your credit production.
