I've cloaked my best planet. I read on the forums if someones scanning is higher than anything that is cloaked the cloaking is no good. Does how many planets a person has found come into the factor? Or is it if the person who is scanning has a higher scan than your cloaked planet it automatically makes your planet's cloaking no good? What I'm trying to say is say my planet has 200 cloak on it. Someone who is searching for planets is searching for there 21st planet which takes a bit of extra scan power. Does there scanning power automatically beat my planets cloaking power even if there searching for there 21st planet? Does how many planets a player has found count as a factor? |

From Dan in the July updates: Quote: Based on feedback, planetary cloak has been updated to provide more 'protection' for planets against players of varying scan levels. Prior to this change, if the ship had a higher scan rating than the planet's cloak, its chances of being found were the same as other planets. While it is still not possible for ships to find planets that have cloaking higher than their scan rating, there is now an additional roll that is done to determine whether a ship will be successful in scanning a planet that has some cloaking at all. This means that all planets with cloaking have a chance to 'block' a scan against any other ship. This chance will eventually approach 0% as the planet's cloak is closer to the ship's scan, where after that it cannot be detected by that ship at all. |

Yup read that. So even though my planet is cloaked. Someone 10 times my level will still find my planet even if there searching for there 200th planet and my cloaking means nothing to them? |

Someone 10 times my level will still find my planet even if there searching for there 200th planet and my cloaking means nothing to them? its not automatic.... its only a small percentage chance anyways... there is not many really high level players, and there is something like a half million planets (someone can correct that figure). so at best, it is 1/500,000, then add the cloaking. cloaking keeps the riff-raff out. they might only find 50 planets or so at any time... and they dont scan all the time. they are far more likely to find your planet by hacking its location from you. |

I would suggest you to have at least 1k cloak (modified) on planets that you can't afford to lose. I have almost all of my planets at 1k at least and I haven't seen anyone detected my planets for months.. 1k is doable even for those low rank players if they really focus on cloak technology early on.. If you didn't bother to cloak your good planets well then that's your fault that other players captured it via scanning.. |

So do I have really bad luck or is this the reason why 99% scan success is more like 80%? Maybe Dan could include a re-roll on scans so the success rate is accurate. |
