What is the Benefit of increasing Planet PoP? I havent seen any gain to Production. How/what does it help? Thx!

Imagine population is your "health bar". When someone is attacking your planet, the population is how much "health" they have to get rid of before they get a chance to invade. Therefore, by increasing population, you're increasing the amount of damage an invading player has to do before they can attempt to take your planet.
