This has probably been asked before, but the search terms are rejected as "too common" and a trawl through the first 5 pages of the beginner's hub hasn't brought up what I'm looking for.

I know that a lot of people set this as a long term goal, and apparently the number of decks needed to do this is well known. I would like to know if I have already missed some npc drops at rank 114 - are there some items that I will never be able to get now?

Also, where there are several types or variants of a drop (crimson weapons, dark defences etc.) would you install one of each level (e.g. 1 auto-phaser, 1 auto-laser, 1 vortul blast phaser and 1 korteth twin-blaster) or the maximum number of the top level (e.g. 4 twin blasters)? I guess the first way is the purists way, but if I've already missed some early items I might still manage the second way.

I know that this "achievement" also includes badge items and mission items, but unlike the npc drops, I'm not worried about them disappearing with rank.

Edit: Going from the answers below the cut-off appears to be rank 600 and the lost npcs are:

1) Reynard, Lazuli Titan for the Lazuli Mind controller
2) Drannik Ballista(e) for the Ion Pulse Ballista(e)

Also I was wrong in my assertion about missions, there is something you can miss if you're not careful:

I looked through the first last 20 pages of Remric's posts and couldn't find it, but at one time not too long ago he had a thread in the pub announcing how many decks it took to have everything (top end) installed. A few things have come out since then, but I'm sure he has those now too lol. It was somewhere around 5700 if I'm not mistaken.

As for the NPC mods that can be replaced by a bigger better version, unless you're particularly nostalgic, upgrade. Some of the low end drops are replaced by better stuff, but not everything. Drannik power cores, XRP batteries Dark defenses and the Crimson weapons/plating all have improved versions.

Just go with the maximum versions of things.

You aren't in danger of losing any modules until rank 600 when you can no longer see Reynard to get the lazuli mind controller
you will lose the little versions but that's not a big deal unless you are an obsessive collector

As for missions, there is one npc module you can lose if you aren't careful
While doing the Mylarai chain, the 2nd to last mission called Embattled Retreat.
While that mission is active, an uncommon npc will become available
You need to hunt for the octafari leviathans and get all 4 rift emitters before completing that mission.

there from an npc blockade that may randomly appear only on your rift planets...shareable with the legion and its a 3 person npc. i added to the wiki at the bottom of the planet sectio.

haha, just tack on an extra 64 decks to get to maximum and thats how many decks you need.

They always liked me, but I've not seen any for quite some time now. It's a rank 200 rare, so cutoff is 600 maybe? 3x rank is fairly common for cutoffs for solo NPCs.

600 seems like a reasonable estimate, I found enough to max the modules two or three times, and after rank 600 I've done maybe 25% of my total NPC count and haven't found a single one
