So I started playing galaxy legion a year ago and joined a personal friend's legion. I eventually have been promoted to officer and I feel that most in the legion are friendly people. They are willing to share artifacts until my cargo is full. It's a 2x mega research lvl 5 base with 35 / 50 slots filled, nice base really but I am thinking of leaving them.
The legion comm is nearly always dead, no one talks about anything. I try to chat it up a little but it is usually me talking to myself. There are nearly zero base targets, no real team work on invading planets. I think I may be the most active, generally the one to disable ships that are alerted. The players are more mission types with more deaths than kills and i tend to like PVP more but currently decided to go with a more energy set up to finish a mission chain.
Is it time to search for a new legion or is this just a typical legion?
Thanks for your replies.

If you're unhappy with your legion, you could give us a try. Base-wise, we're around even with your current legion (though artifact), however we have regular (scheduled) base battles, an active comm and a strong PvP core.

There are a lot of great legions for you to choose.
There is Invisible Storm which was already mentioned earlier.
There is Delta Surfers which has an active player base and a good level six base.
I would imagine that with how long you have been in a research legion that you don't need it that badly so I am recommending artifact based legions for you.
Chesterton is a great choice if you can get in. Lots of AP from their base and an awesome PVP base.
The Terranian Armada has an extremely active comm as well as a level six base and will help you out no matter which play style you are doing.
The Red Badge Hunting Lodge is massive on the PVP base but I have not heard from them much as of late so I can only assume they are not horribly active.
Imperium of Namalak is good if you can get a spot.
Honestly it just focuses on your play style.

Hi. You should leave a legion if you are no longer happy being there. Remaining in a legion that you aren't happy with may cause you to decide to stop playing altogether. I think Galaxy Legion is a great game and not playing because of the legion you are in is a mistake.
Legions aren't prisons. You can leave at any time. There are dozens of good legions out there that would be happy to take on an active chatty new ship. Leave your legion if that is what you want to do and tour the galaxy. Spend a week at a bunch of different legions until you find one that suits you. Just make it clear to the legions you join what you are doing and they will put their best foot forward.
Enjoy.

Thanks for the offers via PM and replies here. Borg0001 wrote: Legions aren't prisons. You can leave at any time. I think I must be the loyal type that will go down with a sinking ship. It is especially true because I know one of the leaders to the legion personally and he is one of the nicest people I have known. Regardless I recognize I would be happier playing in a different legion and I am going to give it a try. I believe I have decided to be involved with a legion that is starting. Thanks for the options offered and I will take the galaxy roaming advice if I find myself unhappy again.

You really shouldn't hold yourself back by going into a starting legion. You can help plenty by going into an up and coming legion.

Honestly it just focuses on your play style. This, All of these choices are good, Terranian Armada is a level 6 Artifact base with 50k Arti is 3.5k research per day, they legion comms are usually very chatty, theres a lot of very experienced members in there, constant level 4ish bases (it varies from 3-5), quite a lot of Higher end NPC alerts, with a few lower ones as well. the players are all friendly, and are willing to share artifacts, planets, advice and help in any way possible. plus i am in it. Imperium of Namalak is also good, probably about the equivalent of TA, i don't know personally about the invisible storm, however the reputation is awesome, and the leaders seem like real nice and helpful guys CRA (Chesterton Royal Academy) is awesome, i have a few friend in there, who say nothing but good things (its hard to get a spot though)

Just my own view and philosophy...
No matter what MMO you are in, the object is to have fun. When you find you are no longer having fun in the online "family" you are in (whatever the MMO calls it, legion here), then it is time to find a new family. The legion does not feel like a family, or it becomes very little to no fun being there. These are signs that you need to consider moving on. Find a new family, one that you have fun with. If you don't you will eventually leave a game that you otherwise would have enjoyed. You may not find it right away and it could take several tries to find just the right one. But keep looking until you do. They are there. All you have to do is find them.
Several good suggestions for some have been made. Good luck to you, whatever your choice is. Happy flying...

Try out Anomaly, we have a level 6 research base (You might have enough, but more is better ) giving out 40k research and 10k artifact per day per member, at max. We have a great amount of elites and bosses, more around the 150-300 range, we share planet, are real chatty, and 2-3 bases a day. Though most bases are glass. We welcome rank 100+ people, though if you are close we will also accept you. If you have a compat rep that is good, we will extend the range even farther down. Please try us out, and we are not sister legion to Anomaly Rising and Anomaly Elite.

We are still extremely active, i've been here for the last week helping out some friends We are a specialised legion though, we do NOT just take in anybody, the first thing you need to be considered for joining The RBHL is a recomendation of a friend legion, without that you have about a 5% chance The second thing is a willingness to learn, and a good attitude, if you dont have these you will shortly be weeded out and asked to leave (polite for kicked) The third thing, and most important, is access to a slab of beer, and a method to post it to me and Zo, so 12 beers to Australia and 12 to the UK

If it's pvp you want, I'll be creating a brand new legion for pvp this weekend. The Hells Renegades. Drop me a pm if you're interested.

Guess I better add my two cents to the recruiting thread. The Sith Lords - extremely active, chatty, lvl 6 artifact base, best PvP legion around with a healthy dose of NPC's, and base locks.

lots of good legions represented here and elsewhere on the forums, but I can tell you from personal experience being in a top tier legion has its perks [ CRA - great leadership, great people, great experience ] and is nice but there is absolutely no substitute for being in a legion with people you know personally. If your going to go on a tour consider stopping by us for a day or three, if not then i wish you well on your journeys.
and remember its not where you go that matters, its the road you took to get there.

It is especially true because I know one of the leaders to the legion personally and he is one of the nicest people I have known. Totally understand about loyalty (of the personal sort, not how the game defines it). The first legion I was in, when I was new and didn't know much about the game, was minimally active. I knew I needed to move on, but it took me about six weeks to go and do that. I didn't like to leave simply because it was "my" legion. After I moved to Delta Surfers and that became my home, I did not set foot out of the legion for nine months. Even though there was an ally I would have liked to visit, then a new training legion to help out at, and then another ally to visit. Eventually the time came for me to go and visit our training legion, but it was still a hard thing to click the "leave" button even though I was only moving next door! I've been in and out over the last six months (currently back at the training legion) and I never feel quite at home when I am "out". It's what Raigonne said about family. Find a good legion that fits your playing style and allows you to have fun and enjoy the game. The legion becomes your home in-game and the other members your family. If the legion you are in cannot, or is not, doing this any longer, then it is time to move on. And it's not necessarily a negative reflection on the legion when that is the case; sometimes your needs have changed beyond what they can provide or you simply need a different environment (esp if you have been a leader/officer and need a break from that role).
