 Legion Base being disabled

Hey Guys

I come from a small legion, most of the players in the legion are quite new.
We have a level 3 base and we are oriented toward science as many of the legion members are still quite dependent on the research handouts from the base.

Over the last 2 weeks however we have been targeted by a number of large legions, for example just today Galactic Alliance established a lock on the base [edit: they disabled the base]. This is after the base was disabled yesterday. This is sort of ridiculous as only 5 of our 27 members are even ranked over 100. We have no way of really defending against such an attack. So once again the research bonus will become [edit: is now] dismal, which is sort of disappointing.

This sort of attack has left a bitter taste in my mouth as in my opinion it is sort of unfair. Being new to the game I understand that it is likely that this maybe common place, that higher level players don't enjoy challenges and simply exploit new players. So seeing as I am not going to just give up I am here to ask for advice as to what we can do to discourage such attacks in the future? Secondly, why are high level legions attacking a base filled with noobs?

Level up to level 4 ASAP. Very few bother with a well-built level 4 base.

At level 3 there is little you can do.

Hi Strm avenger

Thanks. I have been actually just thinking about forking out the cash and buying a couple of things and trading them in for CTP. I think it may take a while to make the energy requirement however...

Make sure ye arr a well built 4, an yeah, most o the big legions arr seekin level 5 an bigger bases fer the glory an crates. So if ye gets te 4 an arr happy there, stay thar. Otherwise the top 10 legions arr gonna be lookin fer ye te raid an pillage an plunder an pilfer... including Pirates.

Also, encourage your crew to grow their own planetary production. Being dependent on the base payout is not a good thing. It's meant to only be a bonus.

@Ixianna

Aye, we shall most likely stay at 4 then. Until we manage to get membership levels up and we all get the hang of the game. At least there aren't any Reavers!

@Darth Flagitious
I shall indeed inform the other crew members. Some of them have a habit of colonising horrible planets as well, they never seem to listen to listen to reason! There are only about 6 active players (including me) from the 27 so I imagine the base upgrade is going to take a while.

You might want to foster some links with some of the bigger legions. In the Unknown for instance we always keep spaces open for planet traders or people that we're training up. The big legions aren't just big because they're high levels; they've learned to work together for mutual benefit and to share information.

If your members are colonising crappy planets, then that's their own stupid fault and they're not going to grow from it. But owning lots of planets can be just as good as owning a small number of really good planets. And even a crappy planet can be made good given the right artifacts and artifact buildings. But that takes time and effort (And maybe even $/£). If you've tried educating your legion and they're not listening though, perhaps it may be time to start imposing sanctions and kicking members. They have to learn to listen. A legion member that does his own thing is no legion member at all.

DON'T fork out cash for things to sell for CTP. Spend cash on expanding the base. Trade artifacts for CTP. Gather up artifacts from legion mates and trade them for EM and CTP. We got through level 5 requirements almost exclusively by trading. Either have someone come upgrade your base or try to have individuals expand out research down helpful chains. A Fixer can work on hull, an Aerlen on defense, etc.

Aye, colonizin bad worlds tis a common mistake an one o the reason arr sublegions see a pile o resetting goin on. If ye takes a bad world, it costs ye 5 GP te abandon it. That's $.50 on average, an thats a lotta cash err useless insurance surveys ye be dealin wit te get rid o what ye shoulda never took in te first place. Learn from some guys who know, an if ye arr connected wit a bigger legion, thar be guys who'd gladly kick ye some v.massive gas worlds wit e.abundant research as most o us big folks don't need it no more... an takin a choice planet offa yer hands that ye couldna invade anywho? Sure, guys do that, too, an let ye mooch off a base production that ye could only dream of fer the wait. Thar be a reason Pirates o te Cove has tre sublegions, an its te help make new Pirates fer those times we retire someone (usually fer goin inactive) an have a spot te fill.
