I've heard it's beneficial to just be disabled, can no one raid you? Will you show up in someone's BT?

Yes and no. You won't show up on anyones battletab, though if you've been shared they can still raid and hack you without the fuss of having to disable you. Also, there's several missions you can't do whilst disabled and you can't fight anyone, including NPCs and players.

But it would be great to stock up on energy and shield recharge, right?

yes.
If you have not performed any offensive actions in the last 72 hours, you would not be in risk of being on anyone's alert.
In that situation, unless there is a reason to get out of disabled status(certain missions, NPC etc), you could very well stay disabled.
