Looking for advice on the best way to slow rank? I am a reset player trying a different approach to the game and last style of play i had. Think i should have posted in the strategy forum.

You could speak to PhantasyStar about joining Ancient Untouchables. We're a group of specialists, so we certainly should be able to give you some help.

Level 5 artifact base, with a touch of RP. Only 4 disables though, so it's a reliable 20k+.

Best way IMO is: - Hack A Lot - Raid ship w/o you disabling them (Wait for another ship to disable it) - Be on a Lv 5-6 Artifact Base, help boost your ship faster. - Colonize Artifact planets, again to help boost your ship. I only Colonize VL+ Rich+ Artifact Planets (Most of my Rich Planets are pure Artifact to earn the maximum amount of Artifacts an Hour). Rest of my VR+ are well defended. - Rescued Prisoners and Ship-Bots are your best friend. - Purge planets to drain energy w/o gaining EXP. - Use least amount of Energy that earns you EXP. The Slower the Better. - Joining a well known Slow Ranking legion would also help you. The Sith Lords, Ancient Untouchables (as Strm said) are the only slow/freeze ranking legion that comes to mind.

What about research and my tech level, wont that suffer?

Actually, no. Your technology can be par or often sub-par and you can still be ahead if you run an artifact heavy build. Of course, research is important, but without other things in place, it matters very little.
Your research production can, and infact SHOULD be below average. You'll have about 3x as long as everyone else to get it done, so you can focus that on artifact production.

The absolute best way to slow rank is to have a very high level friend create a level 4 legio, deposite a few hundred billion credits in it, then leave it to you. You get massive daily artifact shipments all to yourself every day. If you keep the base until it runs of of funds, you will aqcuire well over 100 durtanium brackets, android scientists, ship-bots, and other useful artifacts before the base runs out of funds. It's very difficult to find a high ranker nice enough to do that for you, though.

Interesting idea, though not one I believe will work.
Using 20k/day as a nominal payout for a level 5, how does a solo level 4 compare?
Well. I wouldn't think it'd be that high, and there is a risk factor with planets too. Some bases pay as high as 28k at level 5. I'll do the maths when I have more time or if you could provide a figure and save me the time.
*Side note: 100 helmsmen isn't hard to achieve in the kind of timeframe you're talking. When you have 5k AP/hour and access to a level 6 base pumping out the 50k we get.

rank points to tac officers for the most part let bots and androids carry your def and decks. since you are trying to be a slow ranker not much energy is required but you probably add some engineers nonetheless. i would advise getting a race that can improve planets, preferably taltherian, but the min unlock lvl for that is around 330. although res isn't a necessity kronym isn't a bad choice if you can buy some gp as the planets you make can be sold for tech which can then be used to buy arti planets. mylari planets can also be sold, but that happens less often due to the fact it is easier to make good mining planets than res ones (purifiers vs data optimizers) Most important key to slow ranking is good arti production. if you dont have at least decent arti production (5k+) you arent really helping yourself much at all.

You need good mining planets too. Slow rankers would have above average upkeep.

But that effect is lessened by the decrease in the number of planets you will take due to having less slots to take them.

I agree with Thunderbolta on this one upkeep will be higher i recently reset and i found that even when im battleing for yellow badges i rank slower than when i was doing missions another good artifact legion would be the konquel confederacy (just an idea of legion if others are wondering about whos making the artifact points)

Very massive metallics also work,, cant get the value as high as a gas planet, but they usually start off rich or better in both research and mining.
