Hack Unsuccessful prompt!?

I got this prompt while hacking someone ... any idea what caused this? no blue badge
Hack Unsuccessful. Enemy Ship's systems detected and blocked the hack.
Used up 5 energy and the timer is show (I cant remember what's the initial timer is)

You failed to hack them, so no badge.
After failing a hack you wait 5 minutes before attempting again, if you succeed it's a 15 minute wait.

Basically, it compares your cloak/scan and your opponents cloak/scan and generates a % chance of success. It's then random if you fail or not. The % calculation is not known.
