Post subject:  Unoccupied planets with Passive Cloak

Has anybody ever been known to scan an unoccupied planet which has passive cloak greater than their scan? Cloaking is broken, apparently, but lots of people think that it has something to do with the legion bonus. Planet stats, I believe, don't get taken into account by a scan except when the planet is occupied as when you look at them I don't think passive stats are visible until they become occupied. Let me know if you know anything.

It's not broken.

Planets that are controlled by Inactive Players or Reset Player Planets have cloak reduced to 0.

It's definitely broken, neither of those things are generally the case when people experience cloak not working.

I've scanned some planets with passive cloak, but it's never been very high. It'll be extremely unlikely for a planet to have such passive cloak, as it's not very difficult to have scan over most passive cloak when the planet has no Legion bonus. For example, to beat the 3100 from Fold Generators you only need 5 X-Manifold Detector Mark 3 and the usual buffs.

1. To the OP, cloak of unoccupied planet and those owned by inactive players who have been inactive for sufficient period of time is effectively 0, but only in effect for as long as this is true. Should the planet change hand or the owner come back, the cloak will be restored to full power.
2. The only confirmed problem with cloak, as far as Dan admits, is that legion bonus have a delay in applying when a player enters a legion. Which means the real cloak value, for up to a hour or two, can be lower than displayed value when you enter a legion, and this is, in his opinion, the majority of the cases where one scan a planet that have higher cloak than his scan (except those of type #1 above). In this specific case, and any other that might occur, Dan will replace the planet if it gets stolen.
