I tried posting a Galaxy Legion Wiki link in someone's ship coms to indicate where to look for something... and it had this red-box msg I couldn't read then the game auto-refreshed.... anyone have any clue what the msg said or if it's some sort of warning system?

Nota clue I know that it won't allow for some of the characters in a uURL though

go to ship comm
make sure you click on the comm box
press Ctrl & V

still doesnt allow for the / in site url structure.

Could have been that the comm message was too long or some other error. Disallowed characters are simply removed in the post.

it IS pretty annoying that you can only use the most basic of punctuation in ship/o-comms. no apostrophes, no slashes, no parentheses. Makes us all look like we don't know how to use proper english.

it never did, it creates a hyper link when you do that

On the other hand, once links are allowed on comm, there will be a lot of spam going around.

Yet anywhere else in the game (with the exception of planet alerts if I'm not mistaken), Officer com or legion com you can use all of those symbols and post URLs with no problem at all. Gotta wonder why the inconsistency.

You can already do it with officer coms and the legion com and links are rarely ever spammed. I don't see how the ship coms would suddenly get spammed like crazy if links were allowed there. The main thing I can see happening is there would be more smilies on the badging coms.
