Someone came and joined my legion - wanted to me a leader - he was higher rank - i trusted him - so I let him
while he did do me a favor in upgrading the base and outfitting it with money.... big Dough $$ for a small new legion

He became a dictator and changed everything without consultation with me or the other legion leader - name, logo, rules, defence
he also promptly left the legion after

so now I have a name Id like to have changed - because it's sucky

you ask me some people are just rude to change things to whatever they want without discussing it with other officers or leaders

Id like to know how to add http link in recruitment and how to remove it

Now from now on any new members are not going to be leaders on my team..capts only with restricted abilities

I see that you are really wanting your legion back to yourself but you do only have you and the other guy. Plus he is rank 15... And he is inactive, probably not coming back. Starting a legion at your own rank is just not a great idea with the amount of resources that are available to you and the knowledge you have with the game(Not insulting you in any way). I invite you to join S W A R M and we can help you gain much knowledge of the game and help you out with many things, such as, Credits, Artifacts, And even some planets that our higher ranks may not want. The legion was just created by me and my friend and we have been waiting and playing for 2 years now to be ready to start it. Our legion has many great PvP players as well. Three or four of them are actually on the Kill and raid leaderboard. But anyhow I would love it if you were to join us and you can start here where you will find it more welcoming than just yourself and an inactive dictator

I was in a legion before(and boy that was no help) - and then started this one with the other person

No - I don't want it easy and have everything given to me - like some of members seem to want - take the easy road and learn nothing

#1 I perused the forum to gain as much info on the game in the beginning
#2 I have a better Ship than most - compared to a lot of others at the same level or better - even better than members on the first legion I was on - and have a much better combat rep

#3 you learn nothing if you don't listen to other posts or guides or members here - I see plenty of people in legions with ships that are not good - so that says something about some legions and their ability to help others ) or unwillingness for some people to seek it

#4. the school of hard knocks if your getting hit a lot then figure out what your doing wrong and fix it, train up (research) and buckle up - it's gonna take awhile to fix issues you had time to develop by not seeking advice...so your gonna get hit for awhile till you get better
(I learned this along the way)

I don't take hits or disables as time for revenge - it's life Zeppo hits me.... I hit teppo - your gonna hit someone ..they are easy prey... and then bigger fish are gonna see you as prey - so you get hit
so I don't expect revenge unless I steal a precious pretty ball - and then You endure it until you can planet flux it
and until legion alerts are done - but expect some people to remember

this is war - you hit each other you steal planets - what you think?? we are in a playground playing with plush teddy bears
so I expect that and some sense of code - one thing to play hard - but using dirty tricks

The other leader comes and goes....I'll give him time to figure out what he's doing...he's not hurting me (the inactive is not the dictator - we agreed on averything)
a 3rd leader (I let him in - he was higher than me) he made the changes - and then changed the legion name and his own and left the legion entirely

Id like to recruit some in the same lvl range Im in - that's not likely hence I'll be stuck with newbies (and they come and go and a lot are not active at the beginning)
Id just wish some people would at least try to get on once a week - at least stay active it helps out the base and legion even if they don't do much


Im on most of the time and can help out with development - Id rather they ask for advice then make bad choices from the start

as it stands now I can operate the base on my lvl and outfit it and can even afford to help out newbies with my own resources even arti's- not what the other guy left in the base - that was nice but id would have rather he sold me parts or helped out a little rather than do what he did

50 Billion? - I really didn't need it - I could put 1 billion in and operate it - getting close to 200M cr from resource daily

as a 1 man crew some NPC battles take me some effort that should be done with legion help and sharing of booty
the first legion I was on was useless at this - never on - never listened to alerts or COMM...
hence the reason I left that one and the other leader wanted to start fresh in a new legion

needing planets? - I got rich mega rich massive exotic I got a cream of good planets yet to take before my next star purging and scanning blitz

Im an explorer - I read how to do Proper scanning blitz on the forums - so I have plenty of good ones - and hacked a few good ones as well

Yes I could be stronger in a legion that would support me...in fact i would probably be one of the heavy hitters down the road -
extra research always helps - and so does artifact support - the first people thru didn't have this luxury (kudos to them)

what PO's my legion gave support - credits, training, planets(and good ones), Artifacts(mines/traps/etc) and the newbies still drop off like flies - hard to find a serious gamer
good comm.. - the fact is they never used comm or sought advice

the problem was there is always a bigger legion with more $$ and more arti's and people are interested play game for awhile and get tired of it because it's not 3D gaming fancy

He did that to our legion and then messed up the base and its rules and left when we fixed everything.

Dan will change the legion name for you; but I'd suggest thinking long and hard of course on what you'd like the name to be so as not to bug Dan again Although he's happy to help of course; just there's plenty of players and only one of him.

Also; I'd suggest never 'trusting' anyone off the bat. It took months before I decided to promote anyone to Leader status alongside me. It was a big step of course. On one hand you want to show people you're not a power hungry person; on the other you want to show people you're willing to share responsibility. Although my legion has a Military Style Leadership or chain of command; (you might consider it a dictatorship however; a good Military Commander relies on the Feedback, Input and Opinions of his fellow Officers/Leaders; and in some cases takes a seat back to let cooler heads prevail - so it's quite different from a dictatorship you might find in a where one person is quite full of themselves... and to that effect we have a special pin to pop people's egos )

As to your post XavZepherio, some people's ships are not necessarily the way they are because lack of knowledge. Some people decide to do other things that benefit others. An interesting example is Namalak who ranked up a lot upgrading about a half dozen legion's bases with millions of energy. So not everyone 'sucks'. I know from experience that one particular member in my legion focused on the Legion Research Tree to get us the structures we needed; up tot he point that we got the 110's of which we paid someone to install for us since it'd take us a year to get there. Some people make sacrifices for the legion ; and I totally understand that some don't always see the bigger picture or appreciate the work you've done.

The truth is having a legion is an uphill battle if you're alone and don't have anyone. Without the recruiting system as is; I know it took my legion a lot of effort to grow. It took months for a friend or three of mine to actually play the game and of which only one turned out really interested and committed. However I made friends along the way. The other thing I'd like to get back atcha is inactivity; it's a touchy subject. My legion has a rule that if you go inactive for over 6 or 7 days... you risk a boot unless you told a leader or officer or posted on our FB group... the reason you're going to be inactive or unless we know your situation. The truth is even inactives need their planets to be defended during their hard times from real life or otherwise. However; you need to expect some respect; and sometimes it's a bit of give and take. Sometimes I've seen someone inactive for 9 days and came back; but were thankful they weren't kicked and then in turn... were more attentive to being informative.

Not everything is as it seems. However you seem like you want to succeed at what you're doing so good luck with that. Hopefully better times ahead!

felt that way when I started out that way playing outside a legion (I did my first 20+ outside a legion)
and then inside a legion (no help in my first one)

Ya I'll be thinking of a name ( I want it to be something the team likes rather than one person idea of what it should be) - he could just change it back to Obsidian Dawn or even Obsidian Order
at least for the time being - if I want a legion name in the future it will be with concensus from the legion members on what it should be (if most of the members don't like it)


I never liked the original logo - however the legion can change and update that at anytime(in fact I switched it to something I can live with for the moment) - so that wasn't a problem and it's still up for debate on the legion (if anyone comes back or any newbies stay)

as for kicking people off - Ive been giving time to newcomers - knowing full well things happen and to give people time to get back - get sick - hospital trips, accidents ...ie life happens (just post a message explaining it)

I also usually tell them to just do a quick buzz and post a reason on the COMM - if they can do that they at least stay active

Ya I there are a bunch different ways/methods to play the game - I shouldn't generalize to much

As a new legion I have to take some risk and keep inactives a bit longer to give them a chance...Basically Ive barely kicked anyone out
the other leaders did - Heck Im even give my co-leader a chance to come back after inactivity - he deserves that for the effort he's put in


For the most part my gaming machines fold/crunch...so I need to feed my gaming itch with web based games while the big rigs fold
If anyone here doesn't know what folding or crunching is I suggest learning about it - go to the EVGA forums

basically using your computers to do computational work to find cures for cancer or disease
gets addictive ..ie folding - the points race and folding contests we run
you'll use up $$ to keep your rigs running and drawing power all day and heating your house all for a measly $10 evga bucks ( am minor offset over the costs)
So we do this because we want to find cures and save family members in the future - over doing nothing

Since Im always online in the EVGA - helping folders there I have to have a some game running in background - sometimes playing 2 games at same time
3 rigs running(going to two shortly - after one rig get retired) - lots of monitors

I'll be glad when I grow the team some...
had it up to 8 members(a few times) but 7 people inactive for 1 month was too much
hence the purges of inactives

not like we weren't being generous either - we gave prime planets away and $$ and arti's (even while inactive)

as an explorer I do my planet scan blitz's (purge then blitz) - so I regularly have quite a number of nice ones (love those 15-18x's I see but can't touch)
so I was giving prime planets away


I could use all the advice I can get and maybe a few pacts

the only issue I have is getting CTP's ...it means a lot of npc'ing right now

GTC is rather pricy.... and yes I could buy some that way ... but I need too many CTP's...so that route is entirely useless right now
Id rather slug it out and get a few higher rank 50+ and 100+ to come in as Capts

I should have 5-10% of my CTP's soon - and 20% of my energy upgrade done

Making your own legion at such a low rank can be fun and a bit of a learning experience but it likely won't last very long. I remember the first legion I joined and pre-R100 I had made my own legion. Don't trust people just because of their rank. At rank 650 I joined an incredibly low level legion and was made leader without even asking. I told them not to trust the first person of a higher rank they see and left after making a base donation.

Join a good, strong legion and you will be better for it. Don't expect to be sitting in a top 10 legion by the end of the week, but just find a nice legion. Get into contact with Galaxy Wombats perhaps; they may not take you in but I'm fairly sure they can point you in the direction of an appropriate legion. Gemini 12 may also take you, though I don't know what your rank is so you may not meet their rank requirements just yet. If you join G12, you'll have a free pass to join Red Dwarf when you get to be about rank 500.
