Not enough space on the planet to deploy artifact (1 required). So you do need a space empty; that much is confirmed.
Edit: I tried a Mylarai Extractor and sadly the crappy +1 AP I got cannot be removed. So I now have worst than a Space Elevator on that planet.

Looks like I'll be demolishing the structure if I don't get the arti 3 sz 1 structure so far. I'm guessing its also A/R/M 1/2/3 and X 1/1/1 for all 10.

I was really excited to see what this all did. Then on my first try, I got this.  40 hours later, I destroyed this and go this. Wow, that really sucked. Here is a suggestion for Dan to ignore. Initial: Size 1, Research 1 Upgrade 1: Size 1 Research 1, Mining 1 Upgrade 2: Size 1 Research 1, Mining 1, Artifact 1 Upgrade 3: Size 1 Research 2, Mining 1, Artifact 1 . . . Upgrade 9: Size 1 Research 3, Mining 3, Artifact 3 So 15 days for a maxed out size 1, 3/3/3. Not too over powered but makes the ability a lot less useless. As it stands now, in theory, you could use it 9 times in a row and get all +1 research.

I think making the structure upgradeable to that point would indeed make the ability worth it.

Also agreed. Only the +3 AP and +1 to all are tolerable so far.

It's not like it was hard to get. Definitely at only 10 hacks/day getting a 3 to 1 AP structure every 10 days on average is worth that tiny effort.

I've used this ability 25 times. In that time, I've gotten 1 +3 artifact, 3 +2 artifacts, everything else has been a +1 artifact or a mining/research building. I've not seen a single +1 all yet.
Still very disappointed.

Seems accurate, I got Arty 1 one 7x in a row now. I am just wastign energy demolishing it and rebuilding the same exact thing.
