FOREWORD: I'm arguably a "beginner to autoranking"

I have 7355 energy (without deactivating relays & e-draining weapons.) My rank is 745. I don't seem to come close to autoranking even with Neurals activated.

Who claimed that having 10x the energy as our level will allow us to autorank? I'm learning the hard way that this is a wrong claim.

Then again, is there a mission with a ratio that allows it? What's the ratio to be allowed to autorank at 10x the energy as our level?

10x is widely proposed as the amount at which you can autorank with Neurals and RSL Memory Implants, assuming you have decent attack, something around 20x your rank.

12x should allow you to autorank without neurals and RSL Memory Implants, assuming you have decent attack, and also assuming you don't run into too many low xp bosses.

What you need really need is just more energy, all the time.
This really won't change as you get to higher levels.

18x or 19x allows for significant base battle contributions, random low xp missions like Raix, Thraccti Ability, Bainar Ability, Ranking Cuniculus... etc, etc, etc
Whole lot of energy needed, for a whole lotta stuff :)

20 x your rank in attack is way way low. Probably should be aiming for 50 ish at least.
Depending on npcs available and your rank you can actually do it without a, neural a.10 x or even slightly under.

When I was rank 748, I had 13,938 unbuffed attack and 8,375 max energy. And with those stats, I was easily able to autorank off NPCs with a neural and the regular NPC buffs.

Asheron, what is your unbuffed attack? Because energy alone does not determine a ship's ability to autorank off NPCs.

10x allows autoranking off NPCs with xp and atk buffs as stated by others here but not missions, in case that's what OP was referring to. Am not familiar with any mission with 3.1 times or higher xp/e.

It's somewhere in the low 7k range i believe

Someone quoted that my attack stats should reach 50x my level. That sounds like hyperbole. Is 25x a good goal to go for in order to autorank off of NPCs?

Yep, 50x your unbuffed attack is totally, absolutely and completely unnecessary.
I have never had 50x my rank in attack, yet have happily been able to autorank since Rank 300 or so.

As you can see from Taylor Swift's stats around your rank, around 20x unbuffed attack is more than enough.
It is also almost exactly the figure Tree suggested in the other post.

This also tallies with my own stats from around your rank, when 26x Attack and 12x energy was enough to easily autorank.

As a general rule, if you want advice on autoranking, then Taylor Swift and Tree are very good places to start.

As ICBLF has pointed out, no missions really help with autoranking.
Unbuffed attack around 20x your rank and 10x (then 12-13x, then just more!) energy is all you need.
Also, as ICBLF pointed out, it is very preferable not to have to use XP buffs like neurals.

Agreed, I have 40x attack and 10.5x energy, and I still can't autorank without an RSL. If I don't hit shared elites/bosses, or if they don't go down quickly enough, neurals become necessary as well :(

I was under the impression that 11x energy was needed to be able to autorank off of NPCs - does this number not include xp buffs?

It does take around 11-12x these days, without xp buffs, because the 10x energy was before Assassins/Dark Eluder's/Scythe & that Scientists/Specialists Vessel came out, so doesn't factor in the increase of 10xp kill npc's.

for your rank aim for a 14 to 1 rank ratio on energy you should be able to auto rank with out having to use any xp buffs also giving you a bit of energy to hit the lab to make some goodies as well as i posted as you get higher in another post you will need a bigger energy bar i am aiming for a 20 to 1 energy bar personally right now keep getting stuck at 17 to 1 lol as for attack it will grow in time just do a 2 t.o's 1 energy per prisoner or all 3 depending how fast you want that 14 to 1 ratio i was told this by allot of people when i was lower rank a 14 to 1 ratio is great for npc hunting never heard about a 10 to 1 ratio though

I'm rank 628 with 20k Buffed attack and 7k energy, with a Neural I am able to autorank. Even then I go to the lab to use excess energy
