Even though I got my ally yesterday, I was not about to upgrade the planet until today; yeah rounding.

Was:
Mining 40x Mega Rich 5031 units/hr
Artifact 40x Mega Rich 6213.636 units/hr
Research 40x Mega Rich 5070 units/hr

Now:
Mining 40x Mega Rich 6407.7 units/hr
Artifact 40x Mega Rich 7415.5224 units/hr
Research 40x Mega Rich 6407.7 units/hr

Prismatic Star Federation Mining: 159, Research: 159, Power: 60, Artifact: 159, Bonus Production: 55%

Next upgrade:
Prismatic Galactic Accord
10 spaces
2 years, 3 months
120000 CTP
25000 Energy

I did check and still locked at 40x all.

Sadly, I will not be able to afford that upgrade and keep upgrading the ally. I believe the ally is more important so that is where I will focus.

I do wonder if Dan is reading any of this... this planet is a CTP sink and up to a certain point, worth it. IMHO, even though I upgraded it, it isn't worth it probably 2 upgrades ago. The 80K ctp needed to get the last upgrade would have bought me many planets that would have made more than the boost this planet got. Maybe I'll send him an email.

agreed...i mean the ctp is OKAY if there's a rainbow at the end of that gold drop....but to keep dropping increasingly large amounts of ctp to get another 1200-1500 prod, which you could easier get more than that from 1 other planet, is --well, no bueno.

Im with you..i did the 50k upgrade...not sure i will do the 80k..prolly not..certainly not now based on the apparent lackluster improvement... also when does power count for anything? we've had this for over 2 years now...if power isnt a "Thing" by now...kind of dubious it ever will be

I'm going to wait until I finish the new mission and see if the power has something to do with that item. If not, I think that's when I will share my unhappiness with Dan.

My going theory is that Power was originally ment to be the planets max resource cap but at some point dan decided to cap it at 40x. At this point, afew years in its the only thing taht sort of makes sense.

I had that theory for a while often.

Has anyone done the analysis on when the upgrading costs more than it's worth? Theoretically this planet just keeps growing....but I can't imagine spending 200k CTP and only getting a couple thousand increase in production.

I didn't think it was worth doing the last upgrade I did (100k I think) but with the beast of items you can get from the ally, it might be worth it. I don't have the CTP to do the next one and not sure I will in time.

We had this very discussion on chat a few days ago. For the amount of npcing necessary to generate 80k/100k/etc ctp, I could make dozens of 20x farms that would produce exponentially more arti per hour than a Prismatic that has been upgraded. So something huge would have to occur to make upgrading worth it at this point.

i think the caterwauling over this is a bit much. i was planning on pausing after the 50k level myself, but that is only because i won't be able to keep pace on ctp after that until i breach the rank 2200 level.

http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/ ... Foundation

the 120k ctp upgrade might get you more in terms of individual production planets, but then you have to cloak them all, so your production will drop ... versus the extra production on a single planet that is already invincible.

upgrades past that point that cost more ctp might be unpalatable, but Dan could always have an associated ability unlock that might make the ctp expense worth it ... we'll see in a few months ...

think the idea is/was always to have something novel. a pretty collecible which could, in theory, become nicer and nicer with effort.

The fair amount of #$&*@ is also on point considering the offset value of this 'prize' versus what people had hoped for. Personally i like it a lot. At the same time, the ctp is harder than ever to come by, and since MOST people who could have it will be fairly high rank, their options for npcs to create ctp are a lot more limited.

Sure you can npc forever, but no one wants GL as their second job. (Dan?)

Dan needs to add more ways to make CTP, especially for people who have passed ranks 2000 and 2200. I'm currently at the 18 month upgrade. I will probably make that one, but I think I will be skipping the rest of them for the time being.

Rogue Tech Collectors are the best way to farm CTP. If you buckle-down, you can farm ~200 in an hour.

Which means you need to NPC for 400 hours to earn 80k to upgrade this thing.

400 hours in 6 months = ~2.5 hours/day farming to pay for the 2-year Prismatic Planet upgrade.

IMO, that's an unreasonable amount of time to expect any sane person to invest to pay for a fairly minor upgrade.

So, I disagree with Kevin9809 a bit. The problem isn't needing more ways to make CTP...the problem is the upgrades are just too expensive. They need to be capped at ~40-50k per upgrade.

RTCs are not the only way to get ctp. for those with sufficient arti production .. the ct.lab has a few artis that can be relied upon for thousands of ctp ... polaron especially. those who like to hack can produce bainars to scrap for ctp.

as for NPCs ... rank 2000 is definitely an inflection point when you lose hypergrids .. DCNs and telarys carriers .. but some seasonal NPCs still drop artis that scrap for better ctp than the RTCs: qpedd escapee, bane eidolon, t.o. harvester, scruuge behemoth. plus, the silthion gas vesicle also beats the RTC for ongoing ctp scrapping.

Bainar? Rough math tells me that you can farm ~0.4 Bainars/day. If a hacking-spree takes you about 20 minutes. That is only ~23 CTP/day. I guess that's something? 23 x 365 = ~8.4k/year.

But in that same 20 minutes, you could farm ~67 CTP from NPCs. The tradeoff would be Jam Badges.

As far as the CTLab goes, I suppose that's a very passive way of doing it, but how good is it actually?

I challenge you to build a spreadsheet detailing how many CTP you can produce/hr by burning artifacts in the CTLab ;)

Mythra,

I don't disagree with you, but Dan needs to replace all of the major CTP NPCs you lose once you pass rank 2000. As you clearly indicated, I do not want to NPC 2+ hours per day for six months to upgrade the Prismatic. That's a job. I already have one of those, and the other one actually pays me.

I wish I knew how Dan Math worked for time calculations. I set my calendar to alert me every X# of months for the Prismatic Planet upgrades.

My calendar told me that last Friday was the day. I checked my Prismatic, and its age was "1 Year and 12 months" /sigh

I tried to upgrade the planet, and got the message "Planet colony must be at least 18 months old to use." Cool.

Today the planet flipped to "Colony Age: 2 years," but I'm still not able to upgrade it, and I'm still getting the "18 months" error message.

=(
