 2016 Halloween Event: The Hallows Bane

General Information

Image

During select galactic cycles, members of the notorious Hallows Bane come out of hiding, terrorizing unsuspecting victims. Ships are asked to find them, and put an end to their activities.

During the Hallows Bane Event, the following temporary effects apply to the entire Galaxy:
-Invasions and colonizations will cost 20% less in credits.
-Successful invasions will sometimes trigger the 'Bane Coercion' event on the planet.
-Players of Rank 200+ will sometimes find 'Psyshade Inducer' artifacts during planetary scans.

The Hallows Bane
A group of %Race extremists have defected and joined forces with the Hallows Bane. We believe the Bane may be using some kind of device to influence various factions within the government.

Cost: 90 energy, 1 Spy Uplink Chassis

Rewards: 120 experience, 1 Bane Psybeacon
Risks: Chance of a Psybeacon controlling your ship for 30 minutes (lowering attack against non-player enemies by 40%)

Can only be built on planets attacked in the last 48 hours. Can be upgraded. Limit 1.

Mark II: Size:1, Mining:1, Artifact:2, Research:2, +1000 invasion defense
Cost to Mark II: Planet must be calm for 1 week + 4 Green Badges

Mark III: Size:1, Mining:3, Artifact:2, Research:3, +1000 invasion defense
Cost to Mark III: Planet must be calm for 2 week + 4 Green Badges

Mark IV: Size:1, Mining:3, Artifact:3, Research:3, +3000 invasion defense
Cost to Mark IV: Planet must be calm for 1 month + 10 Green Badges

I'm curious if there are any higher rank npcs this year. I suppose we will find out soon enough.

GP Mods:
I'm going to pass on the ship module upgrades. Didn't buy them last year either. They cost too much GP for what you get IMO. I did buy one of the base upgrades, however.

Bane HyperShroud was bad and expensive. Now with the upgrade, it's still even worse for what you pay. Dan might have more people buy it if there was a new ship design instead of a title. As for the bane traps, they really don't affect high ranked ships much.

how do i unlock the vile encounters medal? its not showing on my medals list. even after conquering a planet with more than 2000 passive attack it isnt showing up. i seen others with lower rank than me and less medal points with it listed in their medals list and i have more planet invades too. can someone please tell me the prerequisite to unlock the vile encounters medal?

The thinking is it might be coveted takeover required (it does follow on as covert is take 8 whatever planets scanned by less than 2 ships and this is take specific planets scanned by less than 2 ships)

a CRAsylum member has Coveted Takeover done, but neither Fire and Brimstone or Living Nightmare, so Coveted Takeover completion looks to be the trigger.
