2017 chuhn scrapping. just did my 2018 chuhn scrapping (at rank 2366) for a tally of 96,129 ctp, an increase of over 20k ctp from last year. the chuhn salvage arm upgrades obviously helped with that. however, with the loss of the rank 2k NPCs, this will likely be peak chuhn scrap for me. that said, i didn't end up doing any void barrier chassis mining, so that is still a possibility if i need to make another ctp push. hopefully, that won't be necessary. my next prismatic upgrade will eat up 80k ctp and porowyn's arrival will take 20k, so that will deplete my current stock. however, that is my Or if not kill, even just an NPC that when you find it, you use an ability same as the merchant to acquire these special parts. When you have enough of the parts, you can make a ship ally out of it. It'd utilize gaining an ally in a way that there currently isn't one for. We have missions that gain us some or markets but not NPCing. Idk something different I just was tossing around in my head.

Continuing that ally idea, once fully upgraded, unlocks an ability to negotiate with Merchants and re-roll one time for a different item.

That'd actually be a pretty good ability, and if it's a rank 100 wouldn't even have to be created until next year. Could just use the artwork for existing merchants for the ally (or if there's new artwork for a medal or NPC to hunt)

What we need are 2 types of merchants for ALL those different drops. Most are fairly terrible and a waste a CTP and just for the collection medal.
I believe there should be a "Luxury" merchant for ship modules and spice so at least we know to gamble on those. Not to mention the price of merchants is insanley. I always switch professions so I do not lose thousands of CTP on merchant bad drops. Some; like the temporary hull bonus, alcohol are completely useless and we only ever need them for medals; aside from getting one of every single item.

I like the different drops its fun and per the ctp if you scrap then you'll have the ctp to spend on the merchants xD That said I do like your idea of a second npc that could be interesting and fun xD

Thanks Angel I believe that most of the drops do not give enough CTP to cover for the ones that do not give anything (stembolts, notably only give credits and are useless for most high-ranked players).
I am fine with the modules giving very little because what most people are doing is looking for merchants to get both eyes, fulcrums, etc. Hence why a "luxury" merchant could charge twice as much but have the good stuff only or perhaps just a tiny chance for one of the really useless items.
The very fact that they are only found every 250 to 500 NPC's on average and keep having more "useless" items (lat year's Atlas never worked for anyone that I heard of) added lately makes the "Chuhn grind" unbearable and it gets worst every year. I have said the same thing about the Bane NPC's having 3 or 4 different guns available yet you only need one to upgrade yours. 1 in 2 or even 3 but 1 in 4 and 6 different drops is a bit much. The "good" pool is diluting. The same thing happens to the C-34 Hypersyncs that are now up to 4 artifact types needed to upgrade a single planet artifact along with 2 different nodes and a scanning module from 4 or 5 years ago.
Oh and yes I am aware that there are other medals such as the "hangover" one with the Goridian ales but most people complete those on the first year and the "Gotta catch them all" medal is the main focus for most NPC hunters and medal junkies.

Well said CapitainePaul, they are way too rare, not many people can put in the hours of gameplay a day it seemingly requires. I have previously suggested that a discoverable artifact should exist to allow a player to open a portal in spacetime allowing them an 8 hour window into a random previous seasonal event, all it's effects on planet scans and market changes etc. npc's, artifact market, UST seasonal, seasonal mission(s), everything basically. The upsides are individual players can catch-up, there would be interesting occasional seasonal alerts for the legion, as well as being able to make up for missed opportunities to spend GP too.
