What role does a planet's population play? I.E.: Why should I build habitats on them rather than purely research and mines? |

They act as the HP of the planet when the planet is under attack. Their role is to get nuked. edit: Oh and they regenerate. They are rather frisky. |

population acts like shields for you planet. your population must be below 10 before your planet can be invaded...if you dont do something to defend your planet it will be a push over to invade |
