so, i was wondering, what is the ratio of scan to discoverable planets? like, if you have 500 scan, how many planets can you find. if you have 1000 scan, how many planets can you find. etc. if someone can display a chart or something so i know how many planets i need to purge to make a run worthwhile id appreciate it... |

well, when I had about 180 planets in my scan, I boosted my scan to just over 3k and I was able to scan up to about 100 planets. the last 20 or so were hard to scan because I had a low chance of finding them. |

A chart like this, while incredibly useful (id love to see one of these) is going to be hell to make. Its going to take alot of trials, and with the only things to go on %-wise being intensifiers and adjectives the exact ranges are going to be unknown until a huge amount of tests are made. I dont think an accurate equation will come out unless people collaborate on this. |

yeah, i knew it was a longshot to ask for something like this. but hopefully someone like binaryman will note his next few scan runs and maybe write down his planets discovered with each scanning level. i know its at scan 1- one planet, and at scan 18-9 planets (thanks to my bro who started playing a couple days ago) but other than that, i have no idea... |

with the highest scanners and explorer class i cap somewhere between 720-750 planets max, dont know if that helps or not, roughlt about 9600 scan |

at 21 scan... ...17 planets = very poor chance of getting another planet ...18 planets = grayed out button... "Scanning power is not strong enough to find a new planet" edit: adding in this: at 35 scan... ...22 planets = very poor chance of getting another planet ...23 planets = grayed out button... "Scanning power is not strong enough to find a new planet" beginner's chances... Code: Planets,Scan, Rating 00 01+ Good 01 01 Poor 01 05+ Good 02 01 Very Poor 02 05 Fair 02 09+ Good 03 01 Very Poor 03 05 Poor 03 09 Fair 03 10+ Good 04 01 Grayed Out 04 05-09 Poor 04 10-14 Fair 04 17+ Good 05 01 Grayed Out 05 05 Very Poor 05 09-13 Poor 05 14-19 Fair 05 21+ Good |

Finally decided to join the forum myself here's another update for ya LoneLycan at 38 scan, 23 planets very poor clickable, 24 planets grayed out at 39 scan, 24 planets still grayed out at 42 scan, 25 planets very poor clickable, 26 planets grayed out at 43 scan, 26 planets still grayed out at 44 scan, 26 planets very poor clickable, 27 planets grayed out at 46 scan, 27 planets still grayed out |

Well from what i can tell it's one planet per 10 points of scan. |

maybe for the good or fair rating... the bottom edge of the very poor rating is further out than that..... Libby's notes above show that |

Smithe wrote: Well from what i can tell it's one planet per 10 points of scan. not necessarily, 150 planets scanned ( also plus like 2-3 because of legion sharing), still able to scan, at 1500 somethin scanning power, so it starts at like 5 points per planet scan and slowly climbs to 8-9 points per planet and then it continues to climb. |

actually, rethought what i just said.... ...you have to realize it's a curve.... at 40 scan, it's roughly 1 planet per 2 scan for the bottom edge of the very poor rating (the curve where the button grays out) at a couple thousand scan, it just might be 1 planet per 10 scan... if you can narrow down the exact point where your button grays out like Libby is doing, post your info |

Well, i was thinking. If we could gather several stats and try to predict the curves equation including the variable of very/very good etc assuming the very good chance of scan is 75%+ we could figure an equation out. |

long overdue update @ 2 planets,... 5 scan = fair,... 5.75 scan = good @ 3 planets,... 9 scan = fair,... 10 scan = good @ 4 planets,... 16.1 scan = fair,... 17 scan = good @ 5 planets,... 19 scan = fair,... 19.55 scan = good |

wow, that's pretty good, Libby fine-tuned the values with a continuum beacon, huh? |

At my level, I get about 1 planet per 16 - 17 scan, so I guess the more you have, the more scan it takes to get the next one. I scan until I get the message about needing more scan to avoid wasting energy. |
