I trying to find out how / if it is possible to change a Legions Name once it has been created?

Through normal means no. You can always ask Dan to do it though. He's very user friendly.

Request to Dan, theres a link at the very bottom of the game "report/Contact this app" Ask very politely and explain its a one off request as i did

Warp Fleet Academy ... becomes ... Warp Fleet Temporal Rift

The boss really is a nice guy
