No one knows and no one cared enough to ask. There isn't that much of a backstory to this game except what's in some Mission descriptions.

The game kind of starts up. Many of the mission hae bits of back story, much of that is for the story at hand though.

actually, its 2011. just on a different timeline where seti actually made contact several decades ago. because of the contact with the aerlens, the humans were able to develop close to light speed travel. through this they were incorporated into the galactic council, and allied with the konqul, inergon, sillix, aerlen, and vygoids. since then more and more races have been incorporated into the galactic council, and thats where we entered the story.

assuming the game is set in our same timeline, only in the future, then I'd have to say in the 3100's....ish. I only say that because of the terran outsiders info that says they broke from the main government after the first expansion centuries ago

but then again, I'm probably just biased to the year and basing my answer off of HALO...hahaha

Time is relative ,
no where in the descrition of humans does it say the humans in game come from earth so mebbe the terran outsiders are the current inhabitants of earth an off shoot of wherever humans cam e from before the now .
but the now truly doesnt exist anyways you cant capture the now and stay here its all past or future see the now just slipped by again

everyone think we are in 2011, but we are near 20 011, the reason why it's approx, it's because all of us ignore the exact date.
