As said, some missions are well worth doing:
Zolazin chain, up to the glaviz vendetta, for 2 more NPC slots (more NPC slots = more chance of rares/elites = more, efficient modules and some nice drops, which can help PvP)
The Octafari, up to the one which drops the hull bonus

Besides that, I'd run 3-4 top weapons, 4 DR thrusters, at least 3 hulls, and then whatever you can get.
