I've thrown myself into Drannik mission chain for a while and almost complete it (which mean I can get away from Sillix, yay!). Before changing race I would like to have some advise. Here's the thing : I'm currently a Sillix Builder, unkeep cost at 1.8 Bil, Mining 6k5/h. Will I able to stay alive with this rate of mining if I'm not a Builder anymore ? (Seriously I fed up with Builder and I want to become Fixer btw).

And this is my friend's question : Biologist is the worst profession right ?

Someone who's a higher rank than me would have to answer the first.
But I know from experience that biologist sucks.

I've not builder, rank 451 and upkeep is usually 2.8 but up to 3.4 right now. I pull in over 8000MP/hr. It means I can do scan blitzes with the second highest scanner (CA Mk2) and build +12 or +10 structures with top tier cloaking structures on my planets but it's still not enough. Spent 50 billion in th last 2 days on scanners and colonising planets. Took me a month or more to get those creds.

Currently I'm pushing my ming up to 9000MP while I run a high scan NPC huning build.

id say raider is worst (also from experience), but biologist is also pretty bad

I have a 2.5B upkeep with only 4.5k MP/HR and I still make money. I may only make 1-2B a day but plan my research to give me time to build up funds so I'm only rarely strapped for cash.

I started off as i biologist. At first i regretted it, but later on in the game it actually saved me from losing planets every so often.
There was times a good planet of mine was under attack whilst i was AFK and as i logged on they just had the planet down to the last 60-100. in these few extra seconds i had a chance to buff up the planets defence and scrape keeping it.
I believe it was most likely luck on my part but if it wasnt for biologist at the time id be a couple of decent planets down now. i changed to a kronyn builder when i hit about 200 so i could buy better stuff without the massive hit to my expenses.
Overall i think biologist is good if you class yourself as lucky and the higher pop can sometimes deture people from attacking a planet due to loss of to much energy.
The reason i changed partially is because i researched the 1200 defence structures and hardly focus on population anymore.
