It would be hard to say there is skill involved in any facebook game. Just strategy, and time.

I have to disagree. It depends on what you are playing for... what are you goals in the game? what are you trying to achieve? If your goal is to rank up and catch Psi-Core, then yes, you are doomed from the start. If your goal is to dominate Nocifer, then you are smoking some serious pipe. However, I have spent no money (sorry Dan) and not much time, but I am on the leaderboard for hacking! Likewise, going back to want someone else said earlier, I don't feel like I am too far behind because I didn't start a year ago. I find this game to have the most balance of any game I have played on facebook. Since there is no "hit list" like on Mafia Wars, then new players don't have to fear the top ranks nearly as much. You will never come across their battle tabs. And, unless you are foolish enough to mess with one of the low ranks in their legions, you will never find yourself alerted to them. I give Dan mad respect for making this game so well balanced.
