 Have you given up on scanners?

Scanners are good for 2 things:
1) Fighting other players
2) Finding planets

Very few PvP anymore and with the max damage cap Dan put on battles scoring a critcal hit is pretty useless so you don't need scanners for that anymore.

I am to the point where even upgrading scanners doesn't get me above 15% planet scan percentage. So just before I level, if I am going to have any wasted/unused energy I use it to scan. This way I am not wasting research on scanners that won't help and I am not leveling with leftover energy I didn't use.


I have found this works really well and stopped developing scanners. Anyone else tried this?

I hack to but I haven't needed to increase my scanners to do it.

Only time ill give up is when I max them out on the chart. Given enough time they will be help full.

No. I need high scanner as hack defense simply because I have HUGE target paint on my galaxy destroyer thanks to my target button on kill list by anyone else in entire galaxy. High scanner is a deterrant to prevent hackers to have a shot on me. I had been hit with scan debuffs (I try to get my scan high enough even with debuff and still prevent them to hack me) many times by various players simply cuz they wanted to hack me only to fail to sneak in and I simply retaliate them for their failed attempts.. Heh. That's why I have high kills thanks to lot of retaliations for their greedy attempts. I don't blame them at all.

I rarely get hacked. I have a ton of traps and am big enough I guess people just don't mess with me.

If I were on the kills list I would go for counter-hacks. Add some scanners to contribute to your ability, but not enough to actually block everyone, and then install full stealth.

Yeah, I never ever been hacked successfully in 2 months now even though I am on the kill list simply cuz I made sure that I don't give the easy opportunity to players to hack me in first place by keeping my defense strong.

And there are high rank players with high tech who could still hack me simply won't do it cuz they know me.

You need good scanners to snuff out the higher cloaked players. The better your scan ability the higher level players you can find if you override their cloaking....cloaking still comes first though.

Scanners and cloak do pretty much same thing with the exception of the hard barrier scanning has. At least in terms of hacking and hack defense. I would at least give counter-hacking a test run on the kills list. The RP might not be the mega-farm I am dreaming of, but you can probably get critical fails the same way. Just kill anyone it doesn't work on.

Scanning is the best stats for hacking defense so I wouldnt give up on it. cloaking can have a X.9999999 multiplier on it whereas scanning can only have a X.5
