A previous topic, someone was asking about npc dmg cap etc. Got me thinking of ways to come up with a solid conclusion on this matter.
So what I suggest is for a few people, mainly NPC hunters, with high attack, to take the same targets, then compare damage and attack and see where it rounds of etc, once done with a few different rank targets. We will have a more clear idea, also would be nice to see if rarity factors into it, i.e slightly higher dmg cap.
So First target I suggest is Flamehawks. So if people dont mind to take 5mins and post your results here, would be greatful.

Its 2.5 x Rank, pretty certain its the same for every single NPC out there.
I've been hitting Rank 120 Drannik Replicator's for weeks and the max dmg i ever do is 300.

Generally, if you have 5x the NPC def as your attack, you do about 75% of the enemy damagecap on average, at 10x you do about 95%. It varies as your attack is roughly 0.6 to 1.666 of what it actually is, randomized.

This is approximate.

Lazuli Refinary Centres have a damage cap of 500 (I think!) Crimson Hawk is rank 160. 160 * 2.5 = 400 Refinery is rank 200. 200 * 2.5 = 500 As far as we know, ALL npc's have a damage cap of Rank * 2.5. This was settled a LOOONG time ago and there's nothing to indicate any change in that.
