I have a friend whos level 60 that has 1200 exotic matter and another friend who is 66 but only has 1000 exotic matter. Question is? 1. does planet type play a role on the collection of Exotic matter? 2 Does player rank play a role on the chance to get exotic matter? Thank you. |

The only thing that affects the quality of mineral yield is your rank. I'm fairly certain that applies to Exotic matter too. |

Almost positive the number or size of any exotic planets you have affects it. Every time I've added an exotic, I've seen a huge jump in Exotic Matter production. |

exotic matter comes regardless of whether or not you have an exotic, but you will get more if you have one. |

I have seen a huge jump it exotic matter received from shipments since jumping a few ranks without adding any planets. I put it down to the increase in rank. |

I recently acquired my first Exotic planet, and my Exotic Matter production has since doubled. Dan says it's only affected by rank, but that's not what i'm seeing. Rank definitely increases production over time, but I can only attribute the doubling to my new Exotic planet. |

If the creator of the game, THE PERSON WHO CODED EVERYTHING, says its by rank it is by rank. Unless he made a serious mistake in the coding. |

Ok, Im enjoying 80+ exotic matter per cargo haul of my 200 empty cargo space. and Im just level 100. I noticed a jump somewhere thats why i asked in the forums..  I did not know that Dan Said something about the exotic matter. I saw his post saying something about the minerals you can get. but i dont think he said something about exotic matter in that same sentence.. I he did can you link the thread in this thread??.. Finished my hyper-terraforming project today. my exotic matter jumped from 80 per haul to 98-100 per haul on a 200 empty cargo space.. I guess that answers my question that rarer planets affect exotic matter production

It is a random chance just like every other mineral, but as Dan said (and he should know since he wrote the code) it is based purely on your level and has nothing to do with the number or type of planets that you own, the phases of the sun, the prayers that you say to the RNG goddess, the color of your socks, or the amount of times you scratch your elbow while clicking the "Receive Minerals Shipment" button. |

Huge jump in exotic matter deliveries could also be just a result of huge increase of cargo space. To really know how much exotic matter you are receiving is to take its percentage against the total amount of minerals + exotic matter delivery. |

Two main things I have found increase the amount you get: Rank + the amount you bring in One gives higher chances the gives more for those increased chances to work. |

Every point of mineral production you take in a shipment goes though a RNG, if the number it is assigned is between X and Y it becomes (mineral)Z and you receive it as such. The X and Y parameters for each mineral/exotic matter is dependent on your rank and increases with rank. I.e. (Im pulling these #s out of my @$$ FYI) At rank 5 RNG# 1-85=Dynite, 86-94=Chrisium,95=Exotic Matter, 96-97=Darrinyte, 97.1-98=Hydium, 98.1-98.5=Erixion, 98.6-99=Pawlacite, 99.1-99.5=Dieterion, 99.6-99.85=Dysillon, 99.86-100=Kurenite. This is how it works, or atleast this is what I got when I asked Dan how mineral shipments worked after I had concluded the same thesis you did and he said I was wrong. |

There seems to be a confusion as to what affects the quantity vs the rate at which exotic matter is obtained. There is no question that rank, amount of mineral production and storage space can increase the amount of exotic matter obtained per delivery but... Quantity only increases the probability of exotic matter appearing but does not necessarily increases the rate at which it appears. ex. 1 exotic matter per 20 units of delivery is the same as .5 exotic matter per 10 units of delivery is the same as 10 exotic matter per 200 units of delivery. So per 20 units you can expect +/- 1 unit of exotic matter while at 10 units you may not see one half the time and per 200 you can expect +/- 10 exotic matter but all of these examples have the same chances of obtaining exotic matter. The larger the quantity of mineral delivery the lesser the chances it would actually deviate from the average or give you more than usual (exotic rate = exotic matter/amount of delivery). (I'm assuming there's a random aspect to calculation of rate but I haven't really looked into it). My point is - we are still uncertain what affects the rate of exotic matter delivery. |

It's also interesting to note that the distribution shifts as you rank. At about 190, I don't produce that much Dynite anymore. Production ramps up and peaks at Erixion and then slopes quickly down again. I produce about half as much Pawlacite, less than a tenth of the rarer minerals and trace amounts of Aidonium. |
