Stop buying badges and special artifacts for top legions!

If you have a level 4 or level 5 base, you need to listen up!

Stop paying horrendous daily upkeep on your legion base!

All you're doing is buying high level legions more badges and more special artifacts from their subsequent raids!

Look, badges are awarded to the top damagers of your base, if your base only takes a few hits to disable, then they waste their time attacking you because they don't get the reward they are after, and they have to wait 8 hours before they can try again!

Likewise...

The Raid they get to perform gives them special artifacts based on how much damage they inflict. If they didn't get to do much damage, they don't get a good reward!

Here's the bottom line:

If you have a level 4 or Level 5 base, and you're pumping in hundreds of millions of credits to buy the "Other Guy" nice prizes...

Then you're a FOOL!

Get smart about it, and Dan will have to make the changes he should already have made!

I have stripped my legions base, and we have only been attacked Once since then. Before I stripped it down, we were getting hammered EVERY SINGLE DAY! I'm not suggesting anything I haven't already done, and the legion is saving a fortune that we can apply toward our ships and our planets!

If your a rank 5 base the top 9 damagers will get 100% chance of raid with 3 protean armory.

you just made it easy for everyone

Oh Whats your base name so we know what to "avoid" killing too fast.

Errr...no offense...but your entire post made no sense...all you've done is make my mouth water and me scurrying about for an easy to kill level...4? 5?

2 small problems.
1) Sometimes, some legions "ration" the base, letting shields build up so lots of people get hits in.
2) Base raid has nothing to do with damage... just raid bonuses and POSITION on the attack board.

His legion is Technical Annihilation. Base was a level 4 on 10/12/11 named Technology Prime.

I think this is another player who's cheesed off about how easy it is for top legions to take their base out.

They're forgetting that when they level up they can squeeze more production out of their base, enough to compensate for any lost disable bonus.

Poorly built level 4 or 5 bases are easy pickings for top 50 legions, especially if there aren't players online to activate the effects. From what I've seen the difference between a Level 5 base with lots of top tier base combat tech and one with second tier combat tech is negligible to top 5 legions bu it can put off other legions for aiming for the base. The problem is the upkeep is mighty expensive for lower ranked legions.

Torment has a well built level 4 base. It won't stand up to an attack by any of the top 50 legions but most won't bother because the rewards aren't great and because it's a turtled design. High defence and high hull plus a few fixers is enough to put a lot of legions off.

Base defence isn't about being indestructible. ANY base can be taken down, with enough people on it.

The trick is to make it such a drain on resources that they AVOID your base in favour of an easier target. Given the choice between a bricked lvl5 and a average lvl5, 90% of legions will spend the extra 20+ red badges to find a easier target, WHICH WILL GIVE THE SAME REWARD for many thousands less energy.

True. Which is why a turtled base is great at whatever level. High defence, high hull and fixers. It'll slow down any attack from a legion below the Top 10 or a poorly coordinated attack.

But I don't think there's any point staying level 4. The production bonus alone is worth it. Torment is going to get an upgrade to base resource production structures once it reaches level 5. I've already installed Sub-Quantum Cores and it's 2x megarich. It'll be 3x megarich with a 33% boost from the next tier of production structures.

It's already at around 10k RP/day each. At level 5 it should be at least 15k which is a lot for lower rank players. (Or an hour and a half of research production for me...)

There's a lot of angles when it comes to the whole bases thing.

Top ranks are whinging about different things to what low ranks are whinging about.

The majority ofplayers in this game aren't in high rank legions and don't have lots of players in their legion who are powerful and active. Most players don't have loads of energy to burn attacking bases nor super high artifact production to get nanodrones for repair.

Their bases provide them with resources but they're also a thing of pride. Legions put in vital game stuff like energy, credits, CTP and EM to build up their base. While these contributions might seem small for higher ranks it's a lot harder for the lower ranks. The high ranks seem to forget what it's like for other players.

(I'm rank 466 btw which is neither high nor low. I've helped build and run a level 5 base at Coadym and now I'm with Torment building up their base to level 5.)

The low ranks are complaining that they are getting stomped on which is natural and shows that the base mechanics work.

The high ranks are complaining that defenders have it too easy, and that it needs to be easier. That would take the pressure off of the low ranks and solve everyone's problems.

You have all made my point for me!

Thank you!

Bottom line is this, do you want to spend 8 hours taking one shot at a time and waste your day trying to gain the badges and rewards for disabling my base? or do you want to take out a base that your legion can join in on get everyone their badges and rewards and move on?

Facts speak for themselves. Technology Prime has only been hit once in the last week, where before that we were getting hit daily. We are finally getting resources from base production, and we are spending 2M for upkeep instead of 400M! Talk about win win for us!

Pretty sure everyone has said they'd rather fight a weak base than a strong one.

Ever since dan put in a min hull and shield on bases based on lvl I can get about 10 people from my legion to get rewards from a lvl 4 that has no hull or def in about 10 mins. That is deffinatly worth a lock to me. Noone wants to spend 1k energy each to take down a base and get the same rewards as spending 10 energy each.

do you want to reduce your production to half of its potential?

because i know a legion that has no problem with filling up a damage list with one-hitters... and then finish off the base the moment the last badge slot has someone...

it doesn't matter that you have no shield, no hull, no atk, and no def.... we look before we strike... it's the whole reason Dan added passive hull and shield based on your base's level.... now we all can get badges and nobody fusses from a one-hit base disable

Namba! Ssshh! What are you doing??

Rich: Your point has been made, and we are humbled. So right you are! Right indeed! Pull those costly defense modules off and cast them into the sea. Useless waste, the lot of them!
It would be impossible for a legion to be organized and line up in a row to milk your base for all its rich badges and crates. Your strategy is brilliant, and should be spread to the masses immediately!

OK then....

Let's assume for a moment that I"m wrong all the way around....

My legion is STILL getting a tiny fraction of the target locks it was before, My legion is STILL saving nearly 400M a DAY!

Disables were daily before, so all our defenses and all that money was simply wasted because it got us no-where.

Now we're saving money, and not being disabled.... HMMMMM>..

YEAH>..... let me run back and put all that crap back on my base!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I currently have a level 4 base and we haven't been disabled for almost a month. we pump out 18K RP per member daily and our upkeep is only 400Mil. we also get targeted every day as well, and most give up, or are unable to get through our defenses because of our high Level of researched modules.

now you are saying that by reducing upkeep, increases the chance of NOT being disabled? i don't think so.

1. Bases with no Def are EASY to disable and you'll end up repairing More.
2. You'll have very poor base shipments, so you'll get Minerals, RP and AP at a much reduced rate
3. Likewise, if a base has no attack then we can pile more energy on before we have to repair and that also gives us more energy to buff our ship with.
4. "Target Locks" are random, not determined. My base once went 5 days before we got locked. Target locks are like a roll of a dice, you either get locked or you don't.
5. Easy bases are WORTH the small amount of energy shoved into them. I'd rather get 3 Silver badges for using less than 30 energy than spend over 500 and only get 2
6. Don't forget that player races also affect a bases potential. Most races add bonuses to the base abilities, some increase the amount of shield, while others increase your Bases Def. There is even a race that adds Hull onto your bases 'Base' HP

e.g
Auxiliary Fortification
Boosts base hull maximum by 10% for each Loyal Lazuli race or Fixer profession in your legion. Lasts 4 hours.

so if you have 10 Lazuli in your legion, your bases Hull is doubled for 4 hours and at 3 Ability points, this is worth its weight in gold. a base with this ability that has a buffed 150K HP is very tough to drop until the buff wears off.

if you follow this up with your base repair and time it right, you can avoid a base disable. Trust me, I've held off on the Credit repair for the last hour, activated the ability then did a full repair then boosted def, we then got a message from the enemy stating that was a good use of the repair and hull abilities, They didn't have enough energy to finish us off, we kept our base production bonuses, they got no silver badges and we still had over 20 Ability points left to use

Dimensional Decoy
Boosts base defense by 5% for each loyal Aerlen member in the legion. Lasts 4 hours.

if you have 10 Aerlen in your legion your base is now 50% more resistant to damage, the higher your base Def stat, the bigger the bonus, same goes with the hull. Again at 3 ability points, this is worth it.

Battlestations
boosts base attack by 2% for each loyal member in your legion that has been online in the last 24 hours. Lasts 4 hours.

if your legion is fully active and everyone logs in daily, then this is an awesome ability at the cost of 4 Ability Points. If all your 50 members, log in within the 24 hour window, your bases attack is now 100% better ( 120% with the Docking Port Module which allows you to have 60 members, limit is 5 on the base, each one grants 2 additional slots for members)
A base that Bites hard, is a tough base, If a base is dishing out damage at your damage cap, then you are going to be repairing an awful lot or using up loads of nano drones and using up millions of credits in ship repairs, making this base very expensive to take down legionwide

to finish off, i WILL say a base with low upkeep is easier to maintain for legions with low leveled members BUT it comes at a cost, weaker bases are easier to kill which also means your shipments will keep resetting to their base amount upon every disable. I'd rather have a base with high upkeep, that gives out almost 20K RP a day at max defender bonus. than a base with very little equipped and can be disabled in less than 10 minutes

Weaker bases are NOT Locked less, a base lock is random.

quite honestly the only reason ur not bieng disabled as much is because many legions are joining together to fight higher bases because they want better rewards..... plain and simple. it has nothing to do with ur setup, its because people are tired of disabling lvl 4 bases and only getting complex tech parts when we can get alot more off of npc's

scans are random, locks are educated based on what the attacking legion knows about the target
so for a specific legion's base to get target-locked, it's a slightly educated and slightly random process

and Rich... i'll say it once again... with the extra hull and shield Dan gives unequipped bases, nobody complains anymore about targetting unequipped bases... they actually prefer it because there's much less energy involved now.... EVERYONE WANTS TO TARGET YOU NOW!!!!!!!!

something tells me this thread is just so he can try to convince other bases to unequip so he can get better lvl 4 and lvl 5 targets
