I am rank 698 right now, and I need a LOT of credits to finish my planet upgrades, and upgrade my ship. Any suggestions of how to raise credits easy and fast? what sells best for credits, how to increase mining output etc. All help is appreciated, thanks in advance :)

Do the Xecti chain I think it is it has some nice artifacts/structures along the line that help with mining or do the Mylarai chain.
Check out that link for selling artifacts, it helps a lot especially if you have a lot of artifacts you don't need.

What's your mineral production and upkeep at? As a non-builder I still make more than enough to be able to afford new module installations and planetary invasions/setup.

production is 8000 per hour and upkeep is 3.7 billion a day

I struggled to manage upkeep and invasion/build costs with 10k Mining till I got research contracts last week. They're a sweet little bonus. I still manage to do a bit of research and cash in about 2-3 billion credits of research a day. If needs be I can convert more RP to credits. Ming still gives more credits per unit but the extra from research finally solves my cash flow crisis.

You probably already do lots of NPCing if you're that rank (I'm currently rank 550). Turn those 15 and 16x toxics into irradiated planets. I made 8 irradiated planets and stole one. Each puts out on average 500MP/hr. Warning though - you'll need loads of drannik sabs to take out the uncommon npc for the mission artifact.

Iv'e kept my ship upkeep pretty low (2.7 Billion atm) by by not installing all he tech I have. I've not builder either.

I'm working my way through the first stage of the Dark Smuggler chain. It offers 5% off upkeep per completion. 3 completions.
