Find yourself facing armies of legions? Don't give up hope. It is quite possible to get more kills than deaths and level at the same rate as you normally would even if your name is slammed all over the game.

Odds are you are going to get disabled on a regular basis. There is no sense in repairing until you have full energy for a full round of PVP mayhem. This alone will guarantee more kills than deaths but this is only the primary advantage. You can also set off halcyon traps on purpose with a little foresight so you can buy yourself more time, energy and guarantee yourself a kill at some later time. Krionus virus traps can be a death sentence in most cases. Traps are sprung by chance, that chance increases as the enemy's hull becomes damaged. If you have already done significant damage and set off a virus trap, you can usually set off their halcyon as well with ~20 energy of wasteful attacks, bypassing the death sentence and usually getting a kill an hour later. It is usually best to leave omicron nets on, since they can't be purged by containment missiles.

If you ever find yourself with zero or negative kills it is also possible to purposely spring traps of everyone on your ship's log without them being able to disable you. This will make your next repair and forray into PVP much more effective.

There are also the issues of hacking and raiding. It is best to have scanners installed while you are disabled or pacified. It is possible to get critical fails by doing this, but the opposite is also true. Having planets shift around used to be an awesome advantage when fluxes were around. The only advantage I have found for raid defense, aside from a crew, is to buy 1 of each mineral. Your counter will go down by 1 as they get 1 dynite from you and it increases the timer for them raiding again. Most good artifacts cannot be stolen. it is good to have a bunch of unstacked crappy ones laying around and sending stuff you don't want to lose to a friend.

With these tactics you can build a harem of very angry, trapless enemies who you can kill 5-10 of every time you repair. It is also possible to just stop for 2 days if you ever get tired of this.

I'm not going to defend the honor of this, suffice to say these people are on my ship log for a reason. Much of this can be attributed to not having any other viable options and 'beta testing' in general.

Great information. I imagine that with versions, 2, 3 and 4 of the same group we will be seeing a lot more of the bullying your talking about.
