I have been told by numerous players that the damage cap on a ship is 1/2 its decks size, just need this verified by an experienced player or a mod.
Size Class: Light Dreadnaught Space: 544 / 549
Someone telling that they are doing over what i believe is the max damage my ship takes per hit and how do get your damage cap is 275 when every hit i did on you did over 300 damage, obviously you have no concept of this game or maths

1/2 deck size or rank+19, whichever is higher, according to what I've been told.

Damage cap is decks/2 as verified by Dan: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5720&p=45542&hilit=damage+cap#p45542Quote: Damage cap ceilings have been adjusted.
Prior to this change, the maximum damage dealt to a ship in a single shot was (0.5 x # of ship decks) Now, that ceiling is (0.5 x # of ship decks), OR (0.5 x (player rank + 19)), whichever is greater.
Most ships will not notice this change, as they typically apply at least 1 deck per rank. Your cap is 274.5 (not sure how it gets rounded in this game). No-one can hit higher than this.

Nope, you can't go over the damage cap.

his level was 23 if I remember correctly. I found it odd that he only had sensors equipped, but I dont object to free food in my BT when I'm trying to get badges.

The Damage Cap is Actually QUITE different from this! MAX Damage Cap (PVP) = WHICHEVER is SMALLER ( ( Total Hull + Total Shields / 4 ) OR ( WHICHEVER IS LARGER ( ( DECKS / 2 ) OR ( RANK + 19 / 2 ) ) ) )MINIMUM HITS for a ship in PvP = 4 SO Max Damage is also dictated by needing to do at least four hits to a player if they have full Shields and Hull. So if your target has the following stats you get the following outcomes: Code: (Shields + hull) = 10,000, Rank = 500, and Decks = 1000 Max Damage per Hit = 500 Damage per hit. Code: (Shields + hull) = 10,000, Rank = 1000, and Decks = 500 Max Damage per Hit = 509.5 Damage per hit. Code: (Shields + hull) = 500, Rank = 10,000, and Decks = 1000 Max Damage per Hit = 125 Damage per hit. -Q

Where did the (hull+shield)/4 come from? webguydan on April 3, 2011 wrote: Damage cap ceilings have been adjusted.

The (hull+shield)/4 was replaced a long time ago by (0.5 x # of ship decks) OR (0.5 x (player rank + 19)) whichever is greater.
