Post subject:  Attacking Enemy Planets

For most of my beginning time playing this game I was mainly doing missions. After I hit level 100 I started helping the legion I'm in attack other bases and also I've started attacking NPC ships. I have yet to start attacking other players ships, other then once or twice retaliating after being attacked, or attacking and trying to take over enemy planets. So I'd like to now try to take over an enemy planet, but with like some advice on what to do before and then even after I invade and take it over.

Any basic advice on attacking enemy planets would help. Thanks

A little info on my ship:

Level: 131
Attack: 866
Defense : 140
Shield : 65
Hull : 1975

I have plenty of Artifacts to improve my Ship before battle and also have artifacts to hopefully help protect a planet after invasion.

Well, first thing, no matter how much attack you have, there will ALWAYS be a chance of FAIL. Many many many people have complained about hitting a 0 Defense/ 0 Attack Planet with no invasion protection buildings or anything on it and still losing to that darn random 97% chance.

Second however, is that you will have to SIGNIFICANTLY raise your attack if you hope to invade any planet with more than 300 combined def/att. I will let others break down the formula to you. I am sure someone can give you the link to the forum topic.

cant remember the forumulae but i know you want at least double the total amount if you want to stand a decent chance

The formula is planet attack + planet defense x3 = planet invasion defence. You need to have equal or higher attack to the invasion defence to have a 90% chance, but be warned there is a 10% chance of failure still, and personnally, I've lost a crew member in a critical failed raid at 90%.

Now what about the INVASION DEFENCE structures... the ones that dont add directly too defence... do you have to check what structures are on the planet?
I'm assuming you add them into the equation of 'planet defence X 3'

It's planet attack + planet defense then x the combined number by 3.
So a planet has 1000 attack and 1000 defense.

1000 + 1000 = 2000 x 3 = 6000 (invasion defence).

Then say a planet has two lazuli pylons on it.

1000 + 1000 = 2000 x 3 = 6000 + 1200 = 7200 (new invasion defence).

Dude, you have to get ALL your stats up, to even stand a decent chance of keeping planets. Also, when defending planets, generally ppl build planet modules at the same ratio of 4 defense: 2 attack: 1 population

Personnally I do 4 defense, 1 population and one attack and I've never had a defended planet taken, so it's a matter of opinion I guess.

Ack, that is so...wrong....

Chance% = (InvAtt/(3*InvDef))*100 <--Note: *100 is to convert from decimal to percent

InvDef=(Planet Attack + Planet Defense + Invasion Defense Items) * (1+(LegionBonus/100)) <--Note: LegionBonus/100 is to convert from percent to decimal

Having an invasion attack equal to a planets invasion defense is going to give you a 33% chance. What you said Epic causes more confusion for people because the 3 is a constant that can be applied either of two ways. It can be (InvAtt/3)/InvDef or it can be InvAtt/(3*InvDef). Both equations are correct and are equal to each other. Including the 3 as a factor of the InvDef...changes things.

As a side note, I'm surprised this isn't on the Equations page in the wiki...

Ok so I've been grosely misinformed by my legion but on another note, to be honest I don't know how my equation is wrong because no offence but you expect me to understand that ^^^^^^^

Post subject:  Re: Attacking Enemy Planets

Your Invasion attack divided by the planets invasion defense, by 3

My InvAttack=6000
Planets InvDefense=2000

6000/2000*3=1

For percentage, 1*100=100%, but it caps at 90%

Warning, I may be wrong

Erm...yeah...I would expect you to understand that. All you're doing is plugging numbers in where they go. And in all honesty is a lot less...confusing...than some of the other equations. This is most likely THE MOST discussed and mentioned formula there is.

Epic,

That equation isn't hard to understand - the main thing that he pointed out is that you added the lazuli pylons on the wrong side of the equation.

Yours was:
Quote:
Then say a planet has two lazuli pylons on it.

1000 + 1000 = 2000 x 3 = 6000 + 1200 = 7200 (new invasion defence).

Yours should have been
1000 + 1000 + 1200 = 3200 x 3 = 9600 (new invasion defense).

This above also assumes there is not legion bonus, which (if there was) would happen here:

1000 + 1000 + 1200 = 3200
3200 x legion bonus %
Total x 3 = xxxx (new invasion defense).
