I have been working on the Xecti race on and off since rank 40 or so. I have always planned to be a Xecti Fixer early, but I also wanted to pvp at an early rank for the easier kills. I am rank 118 now and I recently decided to go all out and finish the Xecti mission while getting the 'restraining order' medal.
However, I may have encountered a setback. Since the medals are out and a part of one of them is to disable a Xecti ship, I think I may be targeted by rank 200's + if I am a Xecti at only rank 140 or so. All of the other Xecti ships seem to be at least rank 300, and others may see this as an opportunity to get closer to their medal. (But of course nobody that rank would have encountered a Taltherian yet. Which would make targeting a low Xecti useless for the time being. But they may not see it that way. They just may want to seize the opportunity.) I have a solid ship for my rank, and I am not scarred of being attacked, yet I work long shifts, and it is hard to repair / re-trap my ship often. So being attacked by multiple ships within a 12 hour span would usually end in a disable. This is an issue to me because I (as some of you may know) have a #1 priority of being disabled as little as possible.
What do you guys think?

Also, there are several Taltherian floating around in that rank range. More than Xecti in fact from my personal battle tab.

Also, I am a slow ranker, and after I unlocked the Xecti race I planned on not leveling while hacking 1500 ships to get the black hat medal. I am not too worried about blue badge retaliation.
I am just worried about battle tab opportunists.

Another reason I want to go Xecti is for the planet stat boosts as well.

Yes, Follyuu, I understand that. But me, sitting at rank 150 would look much more tempting. (Or so I think I would.)
I just do not want to set myself up to get targeted simply because Xecti are uncommon at that rank.

I get that, I was pointing out that where you were making a point about there not being Taltherian around for them, there are actually a fair amount. Meaning they would use you to complete the medal instead of just using you as an easier route to it. The bottom line is, if you go Xecti, you will be killed. But you will also be stronger. So you gotta decide which is more important to you.

There are no taltherians around that rank. 0. None. And there never will be any. The chain doesnt even open until rank 230 and the minimum rank possible to be taltherian is around 330 due to it taking about 400k energy to complete. And thats saying all the exp gotten from 230 on is from that chain.

I wouldn't recommend Xecti until rank 250-300. If anything, Lazuli is a better turtling race (so I'm told).

Xecti: 40% to defence + attach, Fixer 30% bonus.
Lazuli: 50% to hull, Fixer 30%: 95% hull bonus.
