Post subject:  What Research Should I Do?

I have recently reset, am at rank 4, will be freeze ranking with hacks only for about 3-6 months, and the following is what I have fully completed already.

Whipple Plating
Motion Compensators
Sensor Jamming
Nano Assembly

I admit, I am a bit behind, as this is my 4th day since the reset.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks :)

- i am assuming you are in a research legion -

since you will be freezing for so long:
1. research planets to at least +6 structures.
2. decide what is important to you and go from there, you really dont need to make a thread about this since your level 4 if you reset you should already know what your play style is.

Thanks for the input!

@ Elerian :

I'm afraid i disagree.. If he is freeze ranking, he will only colonise about 2 planets, with only 2 planets there production would be insignificant compared the to base output. (unless they're 15x's)
So don't bother investing too much into structures.

Since you're freeze ranking, i doubt you can acquire any of the badge items, but if you want to, grab the :

Dominion Cannons ( For Attack )
Bm50 Convoy Shuttles ( For Attack )
Protean Armory ( For Hull )

The point about this is because these modules are small and very efficient, research odules to acquire equally efficient weapons compared to badge items would require substantial research and lots of deck space. Eg - Energy Nullifiers are like size 60 or something but Bm50 Shuttles are only size 20 and equally efficient and easier to obtain in my opinion. Bm50 Shuttles and other badge items can be installed incrementally.

If i were i would probably research Hull since protean armories are difficult to obtain. Dominion cannons and Bm50 Shuttles are slightly easier to acquire.

Hope i helped! :)

going for disables and red badges gives xp which completely negates the concept of 'freeze ranking' especially at rank 4.

i would echo elerian's suggestion of focusing on planet research. that way, when you are ready to jump back to ranking, you can rank while pvp'ing and any planets you get will not need their structures 'upgraded' for a farily long time.

Buy a good 3x VL Terra with a the trading money you have, and pour all your research from the base into buildings. If you really want to, I would:

1)Get +10's
2)Load up the Terra
3) Research to Q-Phased Plating
3) Singularity launchers
4) Inertial Dampeners

Bare in mind, this will take months to accomplish, with a level 5+ base pumping out research.

  • Planetary Shields
  • +8 Structures
  • 3rd Tier of Nano-sphere Armor
  • CT Lab (Leave until last)

Also, you may want to look at defenses. These should do for being rank 4 though. You won't need too much defense if you keep your damage cap low. Then again, Android Helmsmen will help with this.

If you do have extra time, go for Obviation Barriers, and if you have even more extra time, get as far as you can in the planetary production tree. If you can, get it finished.

Then you should move onto weapons. :)

Matter of opinion though. This is what I find works best. :)

you're kidding. seriously. i have been trying to refrain from posting as it's pretty hard on this device but... this is an emergency.

speed rank then freeze. you'll achieve the same effect, in less time, and be stronger overall. then, you'll be able to take advantage of an artifact base too, an join a pvp oriented legion like ancient untouchables or the sith lords.

i slow ranked early on (albeit somewhat accidently) and compared to my current growth a regret it entirely. jump to 100/200 then go for it.

focus on defences and hulls if you insist on staying r4, structures otherwise. +10s or even +12s are essential to slow-rank success

ps.,sorry for awful grammar...
