Ok so everyone normally picks a VM gas/colossal plasma(if they can) or a VM metallic.. and those are about the only options because everyone wants to hide these planets exceptionally good, which is understandable when youve got 5 of each storage and X special artis on one planet.. But I happened to decide a long time ago when i was purging the majority of my crap planets, that i would keep an icy, just large and arti abundant, and plunked down 5 gp storages, and 3 others, then loaded it on def and pop. 2k pop and ~20K def, ~2500 cloak, to keep newbies from finding it. The thing is, a rank 800 scanned this planet the other day, possibly had it on scan for over a week or two, but because it wasnt a 'good' planet, he probably didnt check what was on it. and overlooked the fact that our legions are in a war, and this wouldve been a nice piss off theft. as it stands, i temp fluxed it upon checking who had it scanned.. Now this could just be me, but im all the time checking the enemy owned planets i have scanned. I always check after a scan run as well, to see who's put what where, and whether i feel its worth the invasion/abandon costs to steal X arti. for some reason hydromeliators do something special for me.. and ive seen them on gas, toxic, and barren planets... none of which had any arti production... bizarre i know.. anywho, does it pay to use inconspicuous planets for storage sheds? in this instance, ill say yes. |

I'm surprised they didn't go after it - I'd take any planet like that immediately, and I always check structures, even on crappy worlds. Someone put an Omnibase on a so-so Icy once and seemed to have no idea why I kept attacking it! So I personally would call this a risky strategy. |

I make it a point to go through what people would consider bad planets just looking for artifacts and structures. |

I was fortunate enough to come across a Large Volcanic, Abundant mining on one of my scans. It contained 4 Mineral Towers, 4 Arti warehouses, and 4 Research Archives... At the time I was rank 150... needless to say I snapped the planet up as the previous owner had minimal defenses on it (around 2500 def, 500attack no cloak) |
