Maybe we should switch to a title system. Once you have the power that Sharn has, you could divide by atoms in the ocean and the number would still be a big one. Rather than years played, days played, etc. One you accomplish x amount of things you 'rank' up that way. Make levels, which really serve as unlocking benchmarks for medals and missions and to reset energy, more like tiers. Then you could sort pvp into fighting your tier.

Then we could ditch dam cap..and then and then....

At the end of the day all these stats are is an unzipping contest. Too many people are so heavily invested in stats they forgo enjoying the game. If stats were ALL this was about, isn't it really a second job? Or maybe a 1st job for those who seem available 24/7 to play.

All that said, i bow to sharn's mighty scepter of power (will leave that open to interpret as you will)

Nevermind my stats... my point is that using rank for this kind of benchmark is misleading, and sends the wrong message (e.g. slow or freeze ranking is a good idea).

I've deleted my stats, won't post them again (there were there to begin with because someone asked me to post them).

LOL, so I finally calculated toughness...basically means I would suck defending Exotica.

Omnomnom, finally moving forward with my plans. But...my rift-to-be was stolen, along with another maxed arti planet. So this sets things back by a week or two unfortunately.
Power (w/ Konqul): 100.5 <-- I finally did it

POWER = attack / rank

TOUGHNESS = (defense + hull + shield) / (damage cap + rank)

SHIP STRENGTH (attack + defence) / rank

Power (77054/915) = 84.21
Toughness (47828+152340+93973)/(467+915) = 212.84
Ship strength (77054+47828)/915 = 136.48

Post subject:  Re: Ship Strength to Rank Ratio

Since this thread continues to be bumped...a thought to ponder.

At low ranks, ship 'strength' is simple division...eg a ship who freeze ranks is 'strong' because the divisible # is so small. I think for mid ranks , say 400-900 strength is more relevant because they are likely doing more npc, chains, missions, etc. This means you are truly comparing how they are developing versus peers while actively moving both their tally for attack versus their physical level. At a high end, the disparity of e to rank becomes much more profound. So in my mind the function of str, per se, is an inverse curve with high points at the top and bottom.

Example, at rank 1530 I rank 10 times, the dividing number doesn't really increase that much, however due to perhaps more time in those ranks, more ap, more terras, etc...I seemingly become stronger --for rank. I have done intermittant tracking over time and see my 'str' go up part of a point each week. This occurs even if i didn't invade a single planet. So i'm not truly GROWING stronger in the way it is being used here..at least not exactly.

In practical application, strength = what it can accomplish. Meaning who cares what level you are, if you bring 500k attack to a base the damage you deal works out the same. If you have str=100 but do 3 damage to a base...what help is that?

ps- all that said ..Capt Paul be a strong mofo

I think for upper ranks growth needs to be measured as an increase in the rate of growth.
