I found a Very Massive Rich Oceanic, a Very Massive Very rich icy, and other uber planets owned by players. Yet not a single one of them has more than 100 defense, attack, or cloak. If I wanted to, I could take one from a member over level 450 in less then 8 rounds and flux it. How can you have such an epic planet and not adequately protect it?

I have 10 large/v large 14/15x megarich toxic planets with no def/att or cloak. Most of my planets are that way. I don't want to lose 20 to 30% of production by putting def/att that won't slow down a determined attacker.

This strategy might bite me in the ass later, but I've only lost 3 planets so far which accounts for less than 3% production. As opposed to losing the 20 to 30% on ineffective def/att.

i just put cloak on my planets. if someone higher level than me wants one of my planets, theyre gonna take it, no matter what. if they cant find it in the first place than i can maximize production and have limited space go into cloak.

To my surprise and dismay I found quite a few planets with base 200-500 cloak on them lately. Which kind of scares me. Obviously I won't attack them but I am sure not everyone sees things my way. So my "cloak planets so people won't find them" strategy is blown away. It's just a matter of time before I get attacked and war(s) ensue.

Yeah, I usually just put cloak on them too. It's not perfect, I recently scanned a planet with 1360 cloak, but it's something at least. I figure that most people don't have Fluxes and just hope it'll be okay.

maybe dan can rework the scanning system so that cloaked planets are not found as easy. like maybe double or triple the cloak value when compared to the scanning power. that way players who upgrade their scanners to continuum analyzers have a better chance to find uncolonized planets and players who cloak their planets actually have a chance against people who have aidonium scanners.

This is very true. Take Tachyon Sensor (+382) which are sort of middle of the road sensors

382 * 5 = 1910
Tac Cyl (50) + Subspace Seek (175) + Tier (60) = 2195
Some not all NPC/Mission/etc mods (350) = 2545

Stryll Seeker (10%) * Cont Beac (15%) = 3,219 scan

This is no where near full scanners. Just imagine what it would be where the scanners base is 895 and all the NPC/Mission Mods.

Anti-Tachyon Satellites give 500 cloak/6 spaces, so you need to spend 24 spots to even get to above the 3.2k mark (500 x 4 x 2 legion bonus = 4,000). This is more than 1/3 the spaces of a very massive planet.

Yeah, I made a post a little while ago about increasing the rate of increase for planetary attack/defense/cloak structures, to make it so they can actually withstand ships these days.
