I'm having a discussion with another about equal payouts vs. contributions payout and I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is on it.
Personally, I'm against contributions payout as it takes away from those unable to contribute in the way this method works (i.e. not having the base research up to par), which I think hinders them slightly.

% payout hinders those without the ability to donate and people who can donate huge amounts easily or, perhaps, jump on the massive EM dump when the base ranks up will have a huge advantage.
2. MrPickerd 47881 839507 2368 12.59% 3. ThonNiMaa 383122 281176 1700 9.42%
Donators 2 and 3. ThonNiMaa has contributed 8-9 times as much energy as MrPickerd, but because MrPickerd got in on an EM dump, he's got a higher contribution percentage.

I view % as a reward to those who donate, I don't think it should ever be used long termed for a strong legion. A short period like a week after a level up is good but beyond that you are just hurting those who's play style hinder their ability to donate.

Contribution-based payout is also more likely to deter new members.

We have a week of % contribution when we level the base up, as a reward to the donors, but otherwise we stick to = contribution.

If you wanted to reward the donors but not alienate your members, switch to % contribution once a month. That one day of production will be great for those that have contributed and shouldnt be missed greatly by those who haven't been able to contribute yet.

I don't like contribution due to the fact that I'm one of the highest CTP and energy donators, not the highest mind but close, and a few people are ahead of me because of an em dump. If the ratios were fixed a bit better then it might have more appeal to it, but I'd still say no, the base is for the entire legion.

As one of the few top legions that regularly use % on our base, i should probably shout out here.
We carefuly restrict how much EM members can add to the base - its limited to the total of their energy contribution.
I personally feel that people who spend vast energy on the base should be rewarded for their effort - so long as everyone has had a fair chance to donate if they choose to.
In our case, people have had a very long time to get the research to donate towards a level 8 base, and if they do not have the research complete it is simply because they chose not to do so.
For those curious, we basically worked out the ratio of % to even that means that all members benefit overall from a base upgrade, even if they have never contributed. (In our case, it is 2 days a week, though often it is only one.)
It is possibly also worthwhile to note that the highest total contributor is at 14%, so it may be we have more overall contributors with a small percent than many legions (Which was the goal all along)

It makes the % vs = argument moot and shows a greatly team-oriented legion.
