I'm getting the 3 year medal come mid-January. I feel like I'm incredibly low ranked (~550) for my time playing (mostly because I'm incredibly lazy) so I'm hoping to hit Rank 1000 by the time I reach 3 years, which means going up 3 ranks every day between now and then. I understand that this'll probably leave me a fairly weak rank 1000, buuut, I can catch that up easily enough.

I just want to know what you guy's thoughts on this are. Couple people I've spoken to have said I'm kinda nuts, but when I think about it a LOT of people up in the 1k+ must have gone up multiple ranks a day for pretty much their entire gameplay.

It's easier if you do it in spurts. I was rank 1003 and after saving some cubes, I went up 20 levels doing the purger mission. You just have to have a good plan for it.

But also, why do you want to hit 1k? There's nothing really special about that number. Generally i only focus on leveling to open up more planet slots as I need them.

Well, it's the first number with 4 digits. That's about it. No real logic to it past that. I'll get plenty of Terraformers, PDOs and ToxPurs to supplement my productions in that time, since I'm intending to do the whole thing NPCing.

If it's all by npcing then make sure you can do it without any xp buffs. Although they can help with the rankings, they reduce the number of npcs you will see per rank. Also make sure you've cleared any mission-spawned npcs like rogue data analyzers, etc so you just getting the good stuff.

I still have RDAs, but that's it as far as mission NPCs are concerned. Decrypting the vault is a long mission, and not one I have been looking forward to doing... Even with the Anti-Cryptexes, it's like a 80k energy completion in total or something like that.

And yes, I'm doing it without XP buffs.

I personally think its a terrible idea but you gotta do what you want to be happy.

Im past the 3 year and Im coming up on 900.. no rush...

And i am under 1 year and am over 1000. The reason to rank is to get more planet slots and terraformers. Any other reasons are more or less pointless.

And your ship is a tin can? At least most that blow to 1k in the first year.
