To be honest, I don't think any of them give a good amount of defense directly. The Taltherian Chain gives you the Taltherian Def-Opts, which gives you helmsmen, but pretty much anytime you use it it isn't that great. The Mylarai Chain does give a couple nice hull modules, if you're interested just in toughness. The Velox Thruster is also the best defensive option, but you need the CT Lab for that. |
