There's been some discussion on another thread debating whether being able to have more scan on a LSB is a benefit over a SSB. So, I've started a new thread where players can post their build, and their scan stats. Here's what should be listed.

Are you a SSB or LSB?
Your scan power at the time you scanned:
How many planets you started with:
How many new planets you scanned:
The top 10 artifact planets scanned during that run:

and

If your a LSB, how many of those planets scanned had over 5k cloak.

(Edited for more details, per senatorhung's post)

Most recent scan:
Build: SSB (rank 565, with 586 decks at time of scan)

Scan power: ~7700

Starting planets: ~340

Ending planets: 646

New planets scanned: 305 - 306

Top 10 artifact planets scanned:
1. Large 2xMR - unoccupied
2. Average 3xMR - enemy, inactive
3. Average 3xMR - enemy, active
4. Very Large MR - enemy, active
5. Large 1xMR - enemy, active
6. Large MR - enemy, inactive
7. Large UR - enemy, active
8. Small 1xMR - enemy, inactive
9. Small MR - enemy, inactive
10. Small MR - enemy, active

All enemy-occupied planets had less than 3000 cloak. One had 2500+; the rest had below 1000 cloak.
Invasion attack at that time ~50k. Max possible ~60k.

Scanning stats for all time:
Scans performed: 19458
Time played: 848 days at time of last scan

Top 10 scanned artifact planets (under my control):
1. Massive 8xMR
2. Massive 8xMR
3. Large 8xMR
4. Massive 5xMR
5. Very Large 6xMR
6. Massive 2xMR
7. Very Large 3xMR
8. Very Massive MR
9. Very Large 2xMR
10. Massive MR

I've scanned an inactive 15x and an inactive 11x (both massive+) before, but was way too weak to take them, so alerted them instead. Have also scanned a few active 10x+ planets (alerted to legion because again, attack was too low).

Perhaps a new thread could have a real count where people can post what their build is and how many planets they scan and their best 10 scanned artifact planets. That way we can see real results.

yep, call it 'Scanning for Glory'. i would be happy to contribute to tht topic. oh ... and i would include the top 10 highest cloaked planets on top of the best 10 arti planets ... there might be some duplication between those lists ... but it would be revealing ...

info to be documented:
damage cap rating (SSB decks / actual decks)
scan buffs
max scan
total planets before scan run
total planets after scan run
total planets scanned
top 10 arti planets (with total atk / def)
top 10 highest cloaked (with total atk / def)
typical invasion attack

anything else ?

Most recent scan:
Build: SSB (rank ~3000, with ~3019 decks at time of scan)

Scan power: ~24000

Starting planets: ~600

Ending planets: ~1630

New planets scanned: ~10000

Top 10 artifact planets scanned:
1. Colossal 33x arti - unocuppied
2. Mega Colossal 6x arti - enemy, inactive
3. Colossal 16x arti - enemy, inactive
4. Very Massive 15x arti - enemy, inactive
5. Very Massive 15x arti - enemy, inactive
6. Very Massive 15x arti - enemy, inactive
7. Very Massive 15x arti - enemy, inactive
8. Massive 15x arti - unocuppied
9. Very Massive 5x arti - enemy, inactive
10. Massive 5x arti - enemy, active

From the list, the highest cloaked planet had around 11k (inactive owned, so it might not count at all). I got the "planet was too cloaked" message a few times that I recall (probably missed a lot, it was a long run).

I also found a 3 or 4 storage worlds, around 10 planets with cloaking % structures, and lots of lesser planets to invade. Not as many unoccupied arti planets as I was hoping tho, but overall it was a decent scan run.

Not a clue how many scans I performed, but I used ~10k purgers, purging every time scan chance was on "poor"

Just shows this thread is completely pointless because there is no correlation between ship size and scan strength due to module swapping.

Sharn is of much higher rank allowing more deck space, until you're at a much later game an SSB will not have the room to field the scanners to match their MSB and LSB counterparts

But I also have more decks than needed to install every single scanning module available :P (I think you only need 2036 decks for that). 2036 decks is pretty small too ;P

The thread is not to show a correlation (or lack thereof) between ship size and scan strength. What it is for is to see if there is an advantage to LSB's in scanning more better planets than an SSB of the same rank could.

From what I've seen so far, doesn't look like it, but of course we don't have a lot of results, and the ranks from those who have posted are quite varied.

i just went thru and updated the mods section of the wiki page for da scan blitzie:

http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/Scan_Blitz

total decks for every ship mod on there is 2088, for a max scan from mods of 12251 (excluding % bonuses).

the most scan you can have from ship mods, using the most efficient mods:

rank 2000 SSB (2019 decks): 12131
rank 1500 SSB (1519 decks): 10871
rank 1000 SSB (1019 decks): 9146
rank 800 SSB (819 decks): 8096
rank 500 SSB (519 decks): 5837
rank 300 SSB (319 decks): 3917

(all excluding % bonuses)

I thought you might like as a comparison, that playstyle does factor in here, by your chart regardless of ship build, a rank 800 ssb who fits the most efficient scanners on their ship, would have almost as much scan before % modifies, than i have normally - 8400 - however you factor in titan proxys ( i assume this was used in your calculation ) and you end up with 9106 fully buffed for scanning would leave you at 11804

Thanks for keeping that updated. It's nice information to have.
