so this idea popped into my head yesterday and i had trouble sleeping last night thinking of what i could with it ... so of course, i spent quite a few too many hours today collecting this data and then some more hours massaging it. meanwhile the dishes are piled up in the sink. happy new year !

information gathered from the publicly available information from the top10 killers of the galaxy, plus a couple of AU strays to make a dirty dozen.

some note-worthy revelations:
* 7 of the top10 killers do not yet have the lone conqueror medal: Topper Harley, UnRepentant, Keithor, Shawn1981, Shinar, senatorhung,
* 4 of the top10 killers do not yet have the firewall medal: Keithor, Lothairmilitia, Shawn1981, and Teneka
* 3 of the top10 killers have not yet hung onto Exotica for sufficient time: Ignatnic, Shawn1981, senatorhung

Image

so, this first graphic is a 'calendar' of noteworthy medals and the month that they were acquired (12apr2012 was the date of initial release of medals, and those listed for that date were grandfathered). i was going to do this with straight up coloured boxes, but then a couple of medals popped up in the same month, so i went with this approach instead. suggestions welcome for any other noteworthy medals you think i may have missed. we can see that Exotica was a hot potato for half of the top killers during the period of Sept2012 to Nov2012. Shawn1981 showed off his scanning prowess by scoring a hat trick of Omniscient, Caelon and Larva all in the same month !

* all of the top10 killers are Marauders
* all the top10 killers have found Caelon and the silthion larva

Image
so, kills per day pretty much reflects the daily PvP killing sprees. battles per day shows how much more energy and effort some of the pilots focus on NPCs. some of the top10 killers are very hack.shy. and kill / death ratios ... remember that these ships are all perma.alerted to anyone in the game ... they are not going to hang around the top of the kills leaderboard for long with weak ships ;)

* 2 of the top10 killers do not yet have a mission dyson: Ignatnic, UnRepentant
* 4 of the top10 killers do not yet have a rift: Ignatnic, UnRepentant, Keithor, senatorhung
* Teneka had exotic, dyson and rift as of 12apr2012, but still has yet to acquire the Show and Tell medal (short a volcanic and an ecumenopolis)

Image
both Topper and Shinar have over *400* open planet slots apiece. senatorhung currently only has 425 planets scanned ! Topper Harley has an average mission per day rate of 72.8 - a legacy of the previous incarnation of the purger mission ? the next closest killer is Lothairmilitia with 15.3 missions per day. and funny how fewer invasions seems to have some kind of correlation to fewer deaths, hmm ? senatorhung was the quickest doorbuster last season, acquiring it within the first day of release, with Topper Harley finishing on the 2d day.

* 5 of the top10 killers have not yet gotten to 300 million research spent: Ignatnic, UnRepentant, keithor, Shawn1981, Teneka
* 4 of the top10 killers were grandfathered in as HUGE with 4400 decks on 12apr2012: Topper Harley, UnRepentant, Lothairmilitia, Teneka
* only 1 other top10 killer has joined them since then: Taylor Swift

Image
some of the top10 killers took awhile to get ready for legion missions, but everyone barrelled thru them like dominoes once they were capable of doing so. not necessarily for the MVP medal reward, mind you, but for all those goodies acquired via legion missions that make for stronger ships.

* 7 of the top10 killers have maxed out their NPC slots at 8. those that have not: Ignatnic (6), Keithor (4), senatorhung (6)
* 4 of the top10 killers are not yet Elite: UnRepentant, Keithor, Shawn1981, Teneka
* only 1 of the top10 killers does not yet have the Omniscient medal: Ignatnic (700 planets)

Image
so yeah, all the top10 killers are Marauders, and Ignatnic only needs to scan 50 more planets for a sweep of the Omniscient medal. Ignatnic might argue that he is hampered by having only 1183 decks, but senatorhung got the medal back in apr2014 with only 711 decks (admittedly he was also explorer profession). Infinite wisdom will likely be out of reach for those unwilling to swap into another legion unless Dan releases new recipes for the ct.lab. and some of the top10 killers are not so worried about medal points ... time for another round of battle market artifacts perhaps ?

so, what was this all about ? the ship log showdown contrasts a bunch of different ship types and it is sometimes hard to figure out which one you want to emulate. the top10 killers all have shown a specific focus on PvP - while they may vary less in the details than the ship log showdown pilots, i think looking at those differences may still be instructive to those who may still be struggling to figure out how they want to progress in the game.

now, back to that sink of dishes before i update the charts for the shiplog showdown ...

Something I've noticed of late, most of the top 10, senator excluded, are NOT doing a lot of pvp lately. The 11-20 range has mad activity, but the top is semi -static.

that's why i included the doorbuster medal as a gauge of recent PvP activity. more generally, Shawn1981 is still setting the PvP killing pace ... i am just following in his wake for now ;)

tried it before with the shiplog showdown ... but all it gives is an unholy mess:

taking samples at regular intervals and using a columnar bar chart instead of a line chart might help, but all it will likely show is who has been relatively active and who hasn't ... and that can be figured out pretty easily as it is by just looking at the daily action counts.

Some of us attack bases more then others so the number of Battles maybe higher for some then others.

UnRepentant is still alive and kicking ... some of that ctp helped get the AU base up to level 8 last month.

to satisfy Purfikshun's curiosity about PvP actions per day, i figured i would update this post. TS, Lothar and TBP are dropped for Purfikshun, Goemon, and DarkMar (pulled via friend listing). add up kills per day, hacks per day, and raids per day and you get PvP actions per day (i also included invasions per day, but those were all less than 1, understandably).

Image

Topper has an astounding 622 open planet slots, which probably leads to that 377.4 scans per day and the nearly 100 missions per day (go purgers go !). i also replaced the doorbuster medal with the medal for can't take the heat.

Image
Image

Keithor is the only player on this listing who still does not have the full 8 npc slots, but i'm sure he is working on remedying that. DarkMar is competitive with Topper on medal points, so getting those PvP medals may push him past.

Image

of the PvP medals, lone conqueror is the only one i have left on my list, so i hope to have that out of the way by the next time i update this report ;)

11 and 12 are not actually #s 11 and 12 on the kills board, they're a friend and a legionmate.
