Below is a list of all planetary types in Galaxy Legion and their abilities:

Gas - research only
Barren - good minerals
Volcanic - good minerals
Toxic - variable
Icy - good artifacts
Oceanic - good artifacts and research
Terra - great artifacts, good research
Desert - variable
Exotic - great everything
Dyson - amazing everything, only a few in the galaxy

Thanks for the info.

Some of the descriptions for what is available on the planets are obvious. Such as abundant. What does available mean other than just you can do that. Is it like rolling the dice, you don't know until you colonize it? What what what, inquiring minds..... and n00bs.....

Oh come on snooze, you have been around we are all just as much a n00b as you are. Lol

"Available" has been changed to "Average" in order to better describe what it represents. :)

With that said, here is a quick cheat-sheet on the availabilities:

Extremely Sparse
Very Sparse
Sparse
Average [Changed from 'Available']
Abundant
Very Abundant
Extremely Abundant
Rich
Very Rich
Extremely Rich
Mega Rich
X Mega Rich (these come in 2X - 40X)

Thx for the info. Could you eventually give us some more info on size? I found a very tiny planet with cool stats and I wonder if I'd better colonize it rather than a very large with less good stats.

All planet types come in a variety of sizes. The only exception to this are Gas (they always come in larger sizes) and Dyson, which is always the max size, called 'Colossal'

Post subject:  Re: Planetary Types

alright, but part of my question is about the number of slots on these planets.
So I can set my strategy.

For instance, should I colonize a very tiny planet but with 225% bonus ... or a very large planet with 150% bonus.

a very large planet it's about 57 slots ...

with the 150% / 225% ratio, that means that I don't loose production if very tiny is over 38 slots (provided all slots are used for production). But at the same time it costs me less in buildings if I go for a smaller planet with bigger prod ratio.

since I never colonized a very tiny planet before ... It would be cool to have a range of slots for each planets.

EDIT:

Actually by looking at the current planets I have, it seems that each rank is 6 slots away from another one:
Average is 45, Large 51, Very Large 57...

I noticed Small, very small, tiny, very tiny under average

so following the rule for the others that should be: Small= 39, very small= 33, Tiny= 27, very tiny = 21

if this rule is true I have my answer.

There are also devices called terraformers that allow a person to increase the level of "abundance" a planet has. For example I used one on a very massive planet that had very rich as the descriptor. It then jumped to extremely rich and im guessing mega rich would come next. Btw it costed like 1900 artifact points if ne1 wanted to know how much the terraformer cost.

Edit: Also these terraformers supercede the "such and such planet can only have rule" which means that if a planet only has research, terraforming will add extremely sparse to both mining and artifacting. I wouldn't waste money on making the whole planet mega rich in all 3 aspects but that would be a very interesting thing to observe.

what are the Planetary sizes?
I see massive, tiny, very massive, average, very large --
in my small set of 16 planets.

planet sizes refer to how much space they have on them for planetary modules i.e. very massive planets have 69 spaces for planetary modules.

Cothordin
it's excellent to know that very massive planets have 69 spaces
Is their a chart for sizes like the above charts for types and amount of resources?

There is also a 1x Mega Rich.. not just 2x and up..

I colonized an Exotic planet- Extremely Tiny but with stats:

Artifact: 8x Mega rich
Mining: 8x Mega Rich
Research: 2x Mega Rich

I think it was a very good investment and it gets me lots of pts for a Extremely Tiny Planet

I have a planet on my scanned list that is "Massive Sentient Planet" that wasn't on the list, so I researched it some. It is occupied and looks good for mining, lousy for research. I did forum search and it appears to be a Barren that is converted. The wiki lists it and several other "evolved" planet types. http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/Planets

Note that the list Dan posted at the start of this thread was posted more than a year ago, Whraven. More planets have since been added to the game since then. More may even be added in future.
