Since there really isn't a thread anywhere concerning this I will open one here. There are probably as many different strategies to this game as there are people and Legions.

I will give a brief synopsis of Talon Company Strategy.

First off we ultimately work for the betterment of all of us. But there are some things we generally do differently. We do accept all play styles. Talon Company doesn't seek to farm anyone unless in time of war.

Alerting players and planets is permitted with an explanation. We generally tend to want to make people pay for things only when necessary. e.g. repeated hits etc.

Our stance on the badges is kind of split. But one thing you can be sure of is if you badge hit one of our members significantly below your own rank we will get more badges from you then you will get from us. If you are ranked between 110 and 120 and hit a level 87 for a badge you can expect that retaliation will be made on you.

We do not alert a lower ranked player hitting us because let's face it that would be really STUPID!!!!!!!

Typically if we know a planet of yours is made and very serious fight will crop up over it if we take it then I will step in and stop all assaults on a persons planet they have made themselves. Exceptions to this rule are a War or if you have been guilty of farming our members before. Your planet is fair game then.

We ask all our members to be smart when taking planets. Look at Legions and sizes and if it's gonna be a contested battle make DAMN SURE you got a flux if you really want the planet. If you know you cannot hold a planet then don't attempt to take it on your own. If someone else within the Legion can take it and hold it we try to make an acceptable planet available for replacement. Terra's for Terra's etc.

I would encourage other Legion Leaders to post their Legion's Strategies if they so choose to. Sometimes it's easier for everyone around here if we have a rough idea of how you and your legion play. This is just for discussion no need to divert the topic or flame. Simple for reference of those in the game.

our rules are

1) (MOST IMPORTANT) always share NPCs
2) only take planets you can hold by yourself
3) stay active. inactives will be kicked after a week or so.
4) if your planet gets stolen, alert the legion leaders. if we can retake it then we will and then allow you to invade it.
5) be smart about who you hit in pvp.

we have a quite a few rules, although most is common sense

1) stay active , preferably login everyday
2) Share Npcs
3) share DECENT planets as often as possible
4) people with superior planet production should provide low rankers with artifacts/credits
5) Leaders should think smart and visit the wiki and forums
6) think twice before blasting someone away
7) Respect NAPs
8) Do Not Jack Planets
9) Alert planets that were mugged from you, depending on quality of planet, we can call in parent legions
10) Use chat comm
11) Use your common sense and build your ship properly with a Goal
12) Take planets in which you can hold yourself, otherwise trade it with someone who can
13) Follow leaders advise (you cant believe how much people in my legion dont listen and get owned and come back crying)

- A selection from the Pirates of the Cove -

1) Pillage, then burn.
4) Close air support covereth a multitude of sins.
8) Mockery and derision have their place. Usually, it's on the far side of the airlock.
11) Everything is air-droppable at least once.
13) Do unto others.
15) Only you can prevent friendly fire.
27) Don't be afraid to be the first to resort to violence.
29) The enemy of my enemy is my enemy's enemy. No more, no less.
30) A little trust goes a long way. The less you use, the further you'll go.
35) That which does not kill you has made a tactical error.
37) There is no 'overkill'. There is only 'open fire' and 'I need to reload'.
55) If you can keep your head while all those about you are losing theirs, chances are you have gravely misunderstood the situation.

@ The Christian Legion,

We don't really have any hard and fast "rules", but we share some common philosophies that have served us well. What makes us most unique is that we intentionally recruit professing Christians. This generally affects our comm messages much more than it does game strategies. You won't see foul language or bad attitudes. However, we don't expect people to be perfect either.

We try to give members as much freedom as possible... it is partly a war game, so hacking/raiding/invading are to be expected. Of course, we do not encourage members to beat up one person continually for no reason.

We share in the common defense of planets and are generous in sharing, minerals, artifacts and planets.

When it comes to combat, we generally discourage legion alerts for "one-of" attacks. If the other person repeatedly attacks or sends legion alerts, then the rest of us will get involved. We also want our members to be able to handle the consequences of fights they start, but if someone does something stupid, we'll still try to back them up if possible.

Honestly, when it comes down to it, we'll pretty much stick together to the last artifact when called upon.
